The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok

This is the worst high-end hotel I've ever stayed at. It's the first time I've encountered a hotel using hand soap as shampoo in the bathroom. One of the sinks was clogged, and it was still very noisy outside close to midnight. On top of all that, I forgot my necklace and bracelet when I left, and the front desk initially claimed they didn't see them. It was only after I threatened to call the police that they 'found' them, followed by a perfunctory apology. I strongly recommend choosing another hotel in Bangkok; the Four Seasons, for example, is much better.

The hardware is indeed new, and the design is quite beautiful – that's the only thing that lives up to the "Ritz-Carlton" name. Unfortunately, a hotel isn't just a showroom for taking pictures; service is its soul, and it seems you've left your soul at the construction site. From check-in, the so-called "luxury service" was already nonexistent. The only two bath towels in the room were both dirty. It's unimaginable that in a self-proclaimed high-end hotel room, even the most basic and fundamental hygiene conditions become a luxury. When checking out, I reported this to the front desk. They casually said they'd "report it to the duty manager and follow up with an email." The result? It took two days for a perfunctory email to arrive. The content was completely insincere, a superficial apology, as if to say, "Oh, we know, you can go now." Is this Ritz-Carlton's efficiency? Is this how you treat your guests? A hotel that can't even guarantee clean towels should close for training before rushing to open its doors to customers. What's even more ridiculous is that this email was only sent "unwillingly" after multiple催促 from Ctrip's Black Diamond customer service. So, the guest's experience isn't important, but pressure from a third-party platform is what makes you act? My entire trip was ruined because of you. No matter how new the hardware is, it can't hide the emptiness and arrogance of your service. From the front desk to the so-called "duty manager," there was no professionalism whatsoever, only buck-passing and indifference. If this is your understanding of "luxury," then I suggest you change your brand slogan to: "The Ritz-Carlton – We handle the looks, you handle the enduring."

Pros: ⭐ The location is probably the best in Bangkok, avoiding the terribly congested Sukhumvit Road. It's right next to the One Bangkok shopping center, making dining extremely convenient. The atmosphere in One Bangkok Plaza at night is also very pleasant, with BTS and Lumphini Park right nearby. ⭐ The swimming pool is fantastic, facing Lumphini Park. It gets plenty of sun, and the fountains are a hit with the kids (the outdoor breakfast area also shares this beautiful view). Cons: 💔 I never imagined I'd encounter poor internet connection at a Ritz-Carlton. Streaming shows on the tablet was impossible due to constant buffering. I called the front desk once; they were polite and said they'd contact IT, but no one ever followed up to check if it was fixed. It didn't improve anyway, so I ended up using my phone's hotspot. I could have called again, but I felt silly dealing with such a basic amenity issue at this kind of hotel, it's not a budget hotel after all.😓 💔 There was a hair in the welcome snack box. My child ate some of the snacks. When we returned in the evening, the turn-down service staff didn't clear the plate. The next day at noon, the cleaning staff also didn't clear the plate (though they did remove the bedtime snack from the previous night). I finally placed it outside the door for someone to take around dinner time the next day. I just don't understand their service logic. 💔 The minibar was almost entirely filled with alcoholic beverages for a fee, leaving no space for our own purchased drinks. The complimentary water didn't even include a single soda. That felt a bit cheap. 💔 At breakfast, I ordered a second round of coffee and a hot chocolate. The waiter probably forgot (he chatted with a Thai lady at a nearby table for a long time after taking our order) because it took ages to arrive, while coffee for tables to our right and left came much sooner. I had to ask him again, and it arrived a while later. Overall, the location is indeed excellent, more convenient than the Kempinski across the street, etc. The general comfort is also there, especially considering that many standard five-star hotels in Bangkok are currently more like 3-4 stars, so this one is significantly more comfortable. However, I'm a bit disappointed. A Ritz-Carlton shouldn't just be a 'standard' five-star hotel, should it? Regarding noise, the hotel is at a crossroads, so balcony rooms do experience noise. But this is hard to avoid in Bangkok with the noisy motorcycles. However, it gets much quieter around 10-11 PM, and the mornings are fine too. As long as you're not an extremely light sleeper, it's not a major issue.
