The Peninsula Bangkok

Well, how should I put it, it was just okay. We were on our way to Krabi for a vacation and stayed one night in Bangkok for a layover. I'd never stayed at The Peninsula before, so this was my first time. Honestly, from the moment we walked in, the service in the lobby didn't feel particularly warm. Of course, that might be because the night before I stayed at a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, so there was a bit of a drop-off in comparison. As for the hotel room, we booked a suite this time, and I noticed that many of its facilities were quite old. Perhaps the hotel aims to maintain an 'old money' style with a very traditional Thai design, but some of the facilities are really showing their age very obviously. The comfort level, I thought, was pretty good; I slept well. The hotel's location is also good, right next to a large shopping mall, and you can take a shuttle boat to get there. Overall, I'd say it was just average. The service, in particular, I found very ordinary; there wasn't really any special service to speak of. I hope they can improve in that area. Breakfast was also average, not much variety, but the Thai restaurant by the river in the evening was excellent.

Money left in the room was stolen, and when I went to the front desk, they naturally denied it and refused to check the surveillance cameras, so I just had to take the loss. The environment is so-so, old and run-down. Later, my friend didn't register their name upon check-in, and when they tried to register after check-out, they were told it wasn't possible, which resulted in my friend losing 2k on the room rate. Yeah, would not recommend.

Extremely disappointed. My money was stolen, and the staff's attitude was completely dismissive. On top of that, they were totally inflexible about the 12:00 PM check-out time, and the security deposit hold still hasn't been released. The Peninsula is really showing its age.

An absolutely amazing value-for-money stay! The hotel's location is superb, right by the river, with boat access to nearby commercial areas, and the views from the boat are breathtaking! The hotel's own garden is fantastic, especially by the pool – perfect for photoshoots. The hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant has a wonderful Thai-inspired design and the food is also excellent. I'll definitely be back!

A hotel with old-money charm. All staff were enthusiastic, the environment was beautiful, and the location was convenient.

It was decent, nothing spectacular, but a good price. I hope it stays this affordable. The facilities are comprehensive, comfortable, and spacious, and the soundproofing is also quite good. The front desk staff had a nice attitude.

Riverside area. How should I put it? The hotel environment is nice and the service is great, but the hardware is really a bit outdated. The breakfast selection is quite limited, and surprisingly, there was no electric kettle in the room—truly the first time I've ever encountered that. On the plus side, there is a shuttle boat to the shopping mall, which is very convenient.

The hotel service is exceptional. Every staff member we encountered was warm and proactive. The location is very close to ICONSIAM, making it extremely convenient to either walk or take the hotel's complimentary shuttle boat. There are great local food options and massage parlors right outside the doorstep. The breakfast setting is lovely, the rooms are spacious with stunning views, and the pool is impeccably maintained. I will definitely stay at the Peninsula again next time.

If your trip is expected to be longer than 3 days, The Peninsula is unbeatable. I can't think of any other hotel that compares, besides The Mandarin Oriental. The environment is excellent. As for the issues raised in the comments section: 1. **Breakfast:** The main dishes included curry fried noodles, freshly cooked noodles and wontons. For meats, there was salmon, stir-fried chicken breast, and ham. Special items included sliced mango and peeled pomegranate. Vegetables featured roasted tomatoes, eggplant, and potatoes. Personally, I found it satisfactory. The pastries were a highlight: the French toast and durian puff were absolutely delicious. 2. **Outdated facilities:** This is true. The charging outlets are quite far from the bed. 3. **Service:** They offer yoga classes, pastry classes, and Thai cooking classes, all of which are great. The pool is beautiful. I personally think the shuttle boat is the most beautiful. The spa is also excellent!
