We chose the Pierrepoint Room because it advertised a king size bed, but it seemed more like a queen with a tall over head frame which pretty much filled the tiny room. The main complaint was the very bad mold smelling in the bathroom, and without a window or a working fan to help air it out. We felt that it was hazardous to our health and kept the door closed, and the window in the bedroom open a crack for fresh air. The stairway up is very narrow and difficult for hauling medium sized luggage. PROS: Great Location Comfortable bed Relatively quiet CONS: Mold smelling Cramped quarters Dirty carpet we would not stay here again.

Went here on the suggestion of my friend who is local to Caversham. We were immediately acknowledged by the man behind bar, who asked whether we were eating (it was a yes). We were shown to a table and drinks orders were taken, with some laughs on the way. The food was original and the beer was very well kept. Service was just fabulous, friendly, fast and fun. Lucian was the name of this excellent and energetic person, and I'd like to thank him for looking after us so well.

We feel ripped off ! We were with a group of friends so not paying attention when ordering some drinks . Only in the morning we looked at the receipt and couldn’t believe what we had been charged …. £18 for a very ropey glass of wine ! It was a Macon Village which is about £6-£8 for a whole bottle in a supermarket . A round of two drinks and two packets of stale crisps was £39.60 . Incredible !! The tables were sticky, the bar snacks out of date and there was no atmosphere … ripped off !

I paid a flying visit to my daughter who is at the university. I booked a single ensuite room. The room was very clean and perfect for me, with nice touches such as a Nespresso coffee machine and bottled water. The shower had excellent pressure. All the staff were extremely friendly and I felt comfortably as a solo guest. I spent part of the evening in the bar with my daughter and her friends and the drinks were well priced and delicious: I was impressed with my Negroni. There were a number of people having dinner- something I will do next time I visit. The inn does not serve breakfast but there is a lovely espresso bar next door with coffee and morning goods. The inn itself is in an excellent location and all sights/ museums/shops/ restaurants are easily reached by foot.

I stayed at the Griffin inn for one night at the beginning of April. I stayed in room 5 Beau. The room is very small but idea for a solo traveller who was staying for one night. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. I was unhappy with the espresso machine and would have preferred a kettle to boil hot water only. My tariff included a meal which was very good quality. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is nobody on-site durning the night which might be a problem. There was a little outside noise but it was mostly quiet during the night. The accommodation was very near to the Abbey and Roman Baths so a plus there. They will also store your luggage for the day after checking out.

Excellent family friendly pub. Beautiful food and super friendly and helpful service. The barmen really went out if his way to accommodate our mum who is a wheelchair. 9 of our family had such a pleasant time together in this quaint pub. Highly recommended.

We booked a table on a Friday evening for a meal and a couple of beers. I had the chicken pie which only had a paltry amount of filling. My wife had a beefburger that looked as if it had been bought from the Asda smart price range. We didn't have time to ask for replacements as we were off to the Theatre. A glass of wine cost £17.60! Beer was ok and reasonably priced. The staff were on the cusp of being surly and insisted on calling everyone 'guys'. Will not be returning.
