The Lake House on Canandaigua

Chloe, our server, was outstanding!! She was very attentive and so kind!! We had better experience at the restaurant because of her!

We arrived a bit early so our room was not ready but the young, friendly front desk staffers said they would call when it was ready. After a brief time, we got the email and text that the room was ready. We were taken to our suite by the affable Brady, who explained the amenities of the two-room suite and location of the spa, pool, etc. Our suite was lovely: bright, open to the lake, white upholstery on a pull out sofa and two chairs, light wood on the coffee table, small dining table, and flooring. A closet large enough to accommodate a weeks worth of clothes was situated between two alcoves which held snacks and beverages (for sale), a mini fridge (also stocked for sale), a coffee maker, and glassware. The bed room followed suit with lots of white furnishings and light wood. The bathroom was so spacious! Two separate marble sinks, a large shower, a soaking tub and separate Toilet. It truly exemplified a light and airy “Lake House”. The balcony overlooked several fire pits on the grounds and a canal from the lake ran alongside the building to access numerous homes on the other side. The Lake House has a full service restaurant with a great wine list (DaRona award), a more casual bar/entertainment building, grills around the pool/hot tub area providing made to order burgers, etc. , a Library that serves coffee and light breakfasts in the morning and becomes a cozy bar after 3 PM. There is also room service. (We tried room service once but the coffee and food arrived at room temperature. Both the egg sandwiches and side of potatoes were drenched in cayenne pepper which ruined it for me.) There is a full list of activities to enjoy from yoga classes to wine tours, boat rides, boat rentals, and a direct connection to the New York Kitchen next-door that offers cooking classes. A daily list is emailed to you while you stay but we recommend booking ahead..especially during the busy summer season. There were several weddings, rehearsal dinners, receptions and special events during the 5 nights we stayed. And if all that is not enough, there is a full service spa with lake view saunas. We did find the dining venues to be lacking in quality and not able to accommodate food allergies well (if at all) so we ate most of our meals at other venues rather than the hotel. Morning coffee served in the Library from 7 AM on was welcome and good. This is definitely a destination hotel well worth the cost.

Drove 45 minutes to dine here for my wife’s birthday. Food and drinks were phenomenal. Anders was a great and knowledgeable server. We frequently dine fine dining restaurants and compare them (Char, Redd, Tournados, The Heights (Ithaca), Gordon Ramsey’s Hells Kitchen (Miami and Vegas), Victoria and Albert’s (Orlando) etc.) and we both agreed it was one of the top 5 best restaurants we’ve been to.

Mikey P at The Lake House in Canandaigua was incredible. He went out of his way to explore options with me that weren’t even on the menu and ended up crafting two amazing drinks that were exactly what I was looking for. His knowledge, creativity, and genuine excitement made the whole experience feel elevated. On top of that, his customer service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and just really welcoming. Definitely ask for Mikey P if you’re there, he knows how to take care of his guests.

We had lunch at the Sand Bar for our mom’s 60th birthday and it was lovely! We had great service and a sour beer reco from Anders who even sang her happy birthday, quite incredibly I must add.

Mikey P is awesome! He makes the best cocktails & especially the espresso martini! He made our entire experience 10/10!

The property and the views are fantastic, Meticulous landscaping, stunning views of the lake, and very attentive staff makes this a terrific vacation stop. The rooms are modern, well-appointed, and very comfortable. It's truely a luxury stay!

We visited the Lake House to close out the summer, and it was the perfect getaway. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite that was both lovely and spacious. The food and beverage offerings were fantastic, and everything we tried was delicious. The pool bar service was exceptional, and renting a boat from the dock was one of the highlights of our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful grounds, welcoming staff, and overall ambiance. I'd especially like to recognize a few team members who went above and beyond during our stay. Jon, who drove the shuttle, was fantastic. He was friendly, personable, and genuinely kind. The spa manager was incredibly gracious when she allowed me to use the locker room shower before our departure. Since our pack-and-play was set up in the bathroom, this thoughtful accommodation allowed my son to continue napping uninterrupted. She made sure I had everything I needed and truly exemplified outstanding hospitality. The true star of our visit, however, was Rafael. He went above and beyond for my two sons and made a lasting impression on our family. He took the time to get to know them personally, which meant so much. My 1½-year-old loves giving fist bumps, and Rafael always had one ready whenever we saw him. Most memorably, he surprised my boys by leaving two Yeti Warmies on our bed. They were absolutely over the moon. They sleep with them every night and still talk about them constantly. It was such a thoughtful gesture that made our stay even more special. My only feedback is that half the game board is missing from the Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders games in the Library. Since these are two of the most popular games for younger children, it's understandable that wear and tear happens. However, it would be wonderful to see them replaced, as my son is already looking forward to coming back and playing them again. We absolutely love the Lake House and can't wait to return!
