East Dawning Hotel

This hotel experience exceeded my expectations! The parking lot is huge, making parking a breeze. The lobby is spacious, bright, newly renovated, clean, and refreshing. The front desk staff are warm and professional, the pricing is affordable and reasonable, they proactively offer complimentary fruit and drinks upon check-in, and thoughtfully provide a souvenir upon check-out. There was no hard selling throughout the stay, making it excellent value for money – highly recommended! The corridors are wide, the rooms are large, the breakfast selection is extensive, and the service is attentive; you can tell this hotel puts a lot of thought into it! There's also a fantastic restaurant called Xinghuatang right next to the hotel!

Overall, the stay was okay, but the only thing I was really unhappy about was that it was during the Chinese New Year holiday. With only two breakfasts available for a family with a child, they should have made an exception and included an extra breakfast. No matter what I said, the restaurant staff wouldn't listen. In fact, the child didn't eat much, and this experience really ruined my mood for the holiday.

I booked a hotel in Changzhi online, and this one seemed luxurious with a grand lobby and fancy facilities, so I booked three nights. Upon arrival, I discovered I wasn't checking into this lavish hotel, but rather a clubhouse hotel next door! The front desk confirmed it was the same hotel, and the facilities were shared. So every morning I had to walk ten minutes to the Run'er Hotel for the buffet breakfast… so annoying! However, the hotel itself was quite nice, with a good location and many restaurants nearby. The front desk service was attentive, and the hotel was clean and hygienic. The breakfast was plentiful and worth recommending! 👍

I found Yidong by checking the nearest hotel to Changzhi Museum, and walked there the next day, which was less than 500 meters away. From parking, check-in, lobby, elevator, room supplies and bedding, breakfast, etc., it feels good. The less pleasant thing is that the noise from the neighbor's door closing has a bit of an impact, and there is a heavy-duty pillar in the room (probably in some rooms) which forms a small space with the wall at the head of the bed, and I feel like I might bump into it if I get up in the middle of the night.

There was this guy at the front desk, I don't know his name, he was really annoying. And what was the point of him washing my socks in the guest room that very night, even though he knew I was getting a refund the next day? They were soaking wet and I couldn't take them with me. Then, on checkout day, he called to ask for my room card but didn't mention whether I'd left my socks behind. Anyone who stays here is unlucky.

The hotel reception and room experience were acceptable. However, the restaurant was very average, and the seating arrangement was unreasonable. We booked a family room and a double room, but they only provided three breakfasts, and we had to pay an extra 68 yuan per breakfast. It was ridiculous, and the breakfast selection wasn't much, not worth 68 yuan at all. The restaurant experience significantly detracted from the hotel's overall impression.

A wide variety of breakfast options

As a five-star hotel, it lacked essential facilities, provided extremely poor service, and exhibited inadequate communication among staff. I already suffer from neurasthenia, and on a rare day when I didn't have to get up early, this person called me on landline at 9:30 AM to ask if I could have my room cleaned. Having stayed in so many hotels across the country, this is the most outrageous experience I've ever encountered.

Overall, it was alright. There was a wedding on the day I checked in, so the lobby was quite noisy and not very clean. The room was okay, and the cleanliness was good.
