Hilton Haikou Meilan

It’s been six years since I’ve last stayed at this hotel and it’s clear upon getting to reception that standards have dramatically decreased and are not becoming of the Hilton Brand. The level of English amongst reception staff is poor to say the least for an international chain. There was no assistance with baggage at all and the staff tolerated guests pushing in the queue. When I arrived at the room, I discovered a portable dehumidifier in the room at full blast. After taken a further a look around the room, the walls were covered in mould. I raised this with the staff on reception who seemingly were disinterested. After requesting to speak a Manager, they also showed the same level of interest and did not realise the health risks of letting such a room out to any guest. This is completely unacceptable. Eventually I was offered another room, but no apology was given at all. The facilities at the hotel are clearly showing their age and in desperate need of refurbishment. Not all the pools were open during my stay. If you have a choice, try the Hilton in Haikou City Centre instead or many of the other good hotels in Haikou. I will be raising the disappointing standards with Hilton Corporate.
