Whitney's Inn at Black Mountain

The Whitney Inn is located at the base of Black Mountain Ski Resort. The surrounding area is beautiful but cluttered with the usual equipment associated with a ski lodge. The Inn is old and dated but well maintained. Our room was clean and comfortable and carried all the charm of an old farmhouse. The Inn had a warm character that modern sterile chain hotels don't generate. On site amenities were basic but good and the smaller size of the Inn insured that you never felt crowded or had to wait for others. The onsite restaurant was outstanding. Set in a converted barn with live music and comforting pub fare, it was the perfect setting to top off a great day. The greats asset at The Whitney Inn was their staff. They were friendly and took an interest in their guests that's rarely seen these days. My family only stayed 2 nights, but we were on a first name basis with several of the staff. They provided us with details on the surrounding area that helped ensure our brief stay was the best it could be. I would definitely book with the Whitney Inn in the future.

Had a great time at this Inn. Owner went above and beyond. Staff was very friendly, and rooms were very clea which is the most important to me. Shovel handle pub atmosphere and music was great along with the food. Would definitely recommend.

What a great place to stay!  They were very welcoming and helpful when we asked about the area. The room was nice and felt very comfortable.

The Inn itself is lovely. It's located in a part of New Hampshire that is very quaint and picturesque. Nestled in between a ski mountain and cross country ski center, the Inn has small, comfortable rooms that look up towards the ski lifts. The rooms are modestly furnished but clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant is staffed by friendly employees who take the time to ask about your day and interests. For the money I paid to stay at this location, I'd recommend it for any couple on a journey to the White Mountains and aiming to keep within a budget as well.

This is the quintessential New Hampshire experience!!! The king room was so comfortable and clean, the service so friendly. There was an adorable sitting area stocked with games, a pool and 2 modern hot tubs under a perfect starry night! A fire pit with snores and peace and quiet. The attached restaurant, the shovel handle pub was adorable!!! The foood was excellent, I had salmon and my husband had steak tips, the homemade ice cream sandwich for dessert and a good selection of beer on tap with a very reasonable price tag and excellent fast service. With ski slopes just feet away I am guessing it is a great winter destination, but I was thrilled with my late summer experience. Highly recommend this place!

Being generation X, I really loved this inn. All the look and feel of an 80s-90s inn built for ski season. The rooms and entire hotel are clean and cozy. Almost all the rooms have just one bed and one bathroom so we really appreciated the lack of small screaming children during our stay. There is a pool, 2 hot tubs and a sauna available and they're fantastic after a day of hiking in Crawford Notch. They have a grab and go breakfast included which is water, orange juice, coffee, muffins or granola bars plus fresh whole fruits(apples in this case) which was pretty handy and appreciated. I have to mention the staff because everyone who works at Whitneys Inn is pleasant and genuine. There is a pub attached to the inn that is pretty active every night and adds to the enjoyment of couples looking to get away. 5 stars all the way in my book!

Pretty disappointing. We were there 2 nights. The room was clean and the bed was OK. But there was never anyone at the desk and the grab and go breakfast was nonexistent. The pub was closed and the literature suggested going to their other property for dinner, but it was also closed. The room was very small and the bathroom was REALLY tiny. We saw other places that looked much nicer. We won’t go back.

Had such a great experience at the Whitney! The rooms were great, the staff super friendly and attentive, and atmosphere was wonderful. We were there for a family wedding in the barn and had a blast. We will definitely visit there again.
