Holiday Inn Express MACAU CITY CENTRE by IHG

Hygiene: Good, clean. Facilities: Simple and basic, but sufficient. Environment: Convenient transportation. Service: Good, also good for mainland tourists. Breakfast was extremely subpar; I almost wanted to vomit after one bite. Only the eggs were edible, everything else was bad. The price during the National Day holiday was three times the usual, over 1200 a night, but it felt like staying at a Motel 168. If it were the usual price of 400+ a night, it might be acceptable for one night.

Opted to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Macau City Centre again, and as always, the front desk staff, both gentlemen and ladies, greeted me with the same warmth and courtesy. The hotel's location is peaceful yet convenient, and the bedding is very comfortable. Transportation is easy, with a bus stop not far away. It's also within a 10-minute walk to Grand Lisboa.

Everything about my stay was satisfying. There are many restaurants downstairs, making dining very convenient. Public transportation is also easily accessible. It's about a 20-minute walk to the Ruins of St. Paul's. My room faced a school, which was quiet, so I slept very well at night. The room's decor and facilities were new, providing an excellent living experience. They even gave us mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival, which tasted great!

Unlike hotels in mainland China, bottled water isn't provided daily. There's a water dispenser in the hallway for refills. After my shower, the front desk suddenly called, saying the smoke alarm went off and asking if anything happened. I said no. They asked if they could come up to check, and I told them it wasn't necessary and to only come if there was another problem. But they insisted they had to come as per their policy, so why even ask if they 'could' come? Anyway, there was nothing wrong; it was clearly an issue with their equipment. Please specify that the laundry room is chargeable and what the fees are. In mainland China, laundry rooms are typically free unless stated otherwise. I didn't take photos of the hotel, but it looks pretty much like the pictures. It's close to the bus stop, and about a 20-minute walk to St. Paul's Ruins. Oh, and when I checked in, there was some trash left from the previous guest that hadn't been cleaned up. It was just a plastic string, but it was still quite surprising. As for the toothbrush, I wasn't expecting anything fancy, but it shedding bristles while brushing was a bit ridiculous. For a weekend rate of over 800, I expected the disposable toiletries to be reliable.

I highly recommend Holiday Inn Express Macau. Its location is excellent. You can take the free shuttle bus from the border gate directly to Grand Lisboa, then it's just a ten-minute walk to the hotel. There are many great food options around the hotel; I tried some ********* beef noodles. MGM is a 15-minute walk away. The main bus terminal is also just 10 minutes away, and for 6 MOP, you can easily get to places like The Venetian, Rua do Cunha, and the seaside church.
