Hotel Forty Five, Macon, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The front desk staff, the valet and Walter, the manager we met at Loom Restaurant, were wonderful due to their friendliness and professionalism. Walter handled an unfortunate incident with a server with diplomacy. We did suggest to the staff that the building be more ADA compliant by adding handicap ramps since my husband is disabled. No guest in a wheelchair should have to exit the building and go around to another entrance to get to where breakfast is served at Reckon. Otherwise we enjoyed the room, the food and the fitness center.

This was our final stop on a 10 day road trip so we'd been in plenty of hotels. We live in FL and this seemed like a great place to stop before our final leg of driving. Reading reviews, and using ChatGPT, it "seemed" like it was going to be a great last night! Unfortunately that couldn't be further from the actual reality. Upon arrival the woman checking us in (who didn't even make eye contact), and obviously hadn't read our profile (quiet location, away from elevator/ice maker) - assigns us a room directly off the elevator, next to the ice maker and directly ABOVE the rooftop (6th floor, not rooftop) bar??!!! Additionally when we inquire about the breakfast benefit says, "Oh, I assumed you'd want points". You know what they say about making assumptions. After schlepping back down to the reception area after discovering the location of our first room, it takes over 10 minutes to provide new keys to a new room - I think this woman probably needs additional training on both hospitality and the hotels computer system. When we enter the room, it smells of mildew and the sheets/pillows were damp. I check the thermostat and the relative humidity in the room is 76% which is a real cause for concern!! Because there is a wonky way to get back to the front desk and we had all our luggage (must take 2 different elevators) we decided to just deal with it, we knew this was NOT going to be the night we'd hoped for. We decide to go to the rooftop bar/restaurant for some food. The lady next to us (and the bartender) both say the salmon is way too fishy and NOT to get it - the woman had actually sent hers back. They ran out of beer glasses and the place was relatively empty - they had plenty of dirty ones in plain sight. The bartender spent most of the time chatting with another employee and was overall inattentive. Next morning we take our breakfast voucher to the coffee shop and order. Hand her the voucher and ask if we owe anything else and she said "nope, you're all good". Upon returning home find a $22 charge for the coffee shop unbeknownst to us. We didn't sign anything authorizing that and were told we were "all good". I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The lack of effort from individual checking us in the minute we walked in the door set the tone for what was going to be the worst night of our 10 day road trip. For reference our other stays included JW Indianapolis, Grand Bohemian Asheville and Embassy Suites in Bowling Green, Lexington and Noblesville.

The hotel forty five was just absolutely amazing ! We loved our room- The staff was so friendly - this history of the hotel is so interesting - we will definitely stay here again

The only redeeming qualities were the front desk and housekeeping front desk the rest of the staff doesn't even know when the restaurants on site will be open this particular day they were closed in the evening the rooftop bar has a very limited menu the food was just so-so next morning restaurant supposed to be open for breakfast it was closed because " the lawyers" we're having a private event at 6:00 a.m. by 7:00 went to the coffee shop they were out of food all they had was a croissant and the restaurant miraculously opened got in there and unbelievable they don't have any coffee because they ran out. No pool on site you have to go up a series of crazy elevators get to your room $30 a night for valet parking. Supposed to be a high-end Place charge outrageous nightly rates. Anything but nice. Not a good representation of the bonvoy program.

Had to wait over an hour (after 4 pm check in time) to get our room. The rooftop bar food was terrible to say the least and we ordered 3 different items, all were DISGUSTING. Do not eat there. Room was clean and view was amazing. Hotel is in a great location to everything you want to do in Macon.

I love the feel of this property. It displayed some of the rich history of Macon, GA complemented with great staff and amenities. Great food on property and very close to a lot of resturants and museums.

This was a horrible stay. Elevators weren’t working. People were complaining about a woman screaming. There was a man bleeding from head in hallway. I was kept up from 12:30-4:30 am by people screaming outside my door. Eventually cops came and broke into room across the hall and things quieted. It was scary. They did refund my stay at least.

The bathroom smelled like mildew. I was there on business and checked in too late to change rooms or def would have. Entrance is underwhelming. Valet parking Is really the only option as street parking Costs and is not safe. Also the food in the restaurant is terrible

I stay at this hotel frequently for business (100+ nights a year) and in my opinion this is best hotel in the Macon area. The hotel is comfortable and very convenient to downtown restaurants and bars. The staff are friendly and accommodating to my requests. I am VERY particular about cleanliness, and have found that the housekeeping does a great job and keeps the rooms and common areas spotless. The only suggestion for improvement is the on-site coffee shop, Reckon. It is ALWAYS out of inventory/menu items and the employees all seem really aloof. There is often times no cold-brew coffee available and the food offerings are consistently limited or entirely unavailable. I have asked the employees about this and there is never a good reason, and have been told that the kitchen has failed to prepare the menu items for the coffee shop. It is really unacceptable as some days the coffee shop is the only restaurant open for breakfast. It is poorly managed and really is a stain on what would otherwise be a great hotel.
