Ibis Budget Sydney Airport

This was the worst hotel, completely lacking amenities. Plus, the shuttle bus costs money, and it takes an hour to get to the international terminal even though it's an airport hotel. Seriously? LOL

It was just okay. It's close to the airport, good for an overnight layover. The room was quite small and the facilities were basic. The bathroom, in particular, was tiny for a family. However, the front desk staff had a good attitude.

My flight back home was at 8:30 AM, and knowing international flights require extra time at the airport, I booked my last night's hotel near the airport. Many reviews mentioned it was about a 10-minute walk to the airport! I didn't pay attention to which terminal they were referring to. Here's a crucial heads-up 🔔: If you're going to International Terminal 1, it takes about 15-20 minutes by car. Walking, according to navigation, would take an hour! Honestly, a taxi from the airport to Chinatown is only 15-20 minutes, and to the Sydney Opera House, it's about 30 minutes! There's really no need to stay here just because you think it's close. As for the environment, I'm speechless: The interior decor is like those cheap business hotels from 20 years ago in China. There's absolutely nothing around. The air conditioner/ventilation fan was so loud I couldn't sleep all night; it sounded like sleeping next to a roaring aircraft engine! What's even more frustrating is that the bathroom floor isn't level near the doorway. The AC was so noisy that when I got up in the dark to turn it off, I hit that uneven spot, completely lost my balance, and almost fell. Luckily, the room was tiny, so I didn't actually tumble down... I dread to think what would've happened otherwise! This was the biggest pitfall of my entire trip!

It was just average. Can't even compare to hotels back home; the gap is huge. I had to grudgingly compare it by Australian price standards. Very ordinary. It's a chain hotel, so the basic facilities are all the same. The toilet and shower are combined, the fiberglass type.

As a budget hotel, the Ibis Budget Sydney Airport's facilities and services meet the basic needs for a layover stay. The prices are particularly attractive during off-peak seasons and specific times, making it a good option for budget-conscious travelers. On the flip side, it's important to manage your expectations and not anticipate too much from the facilities and services. For example, during my stay, the air conditioning provided almost no heat, making the room quite cold at night. You can walk to the hotel from the domestic terminal in just over ten minutes, which is convenient for travelers with only carry-on luggage. There's also a shuttle bus service between the airport hotels, costing AUD 12 for a one-way trip.
