Holiday Inn TOLEDO-MAUMEE (I-80/90) by IHG

VERY convenient if you need a stopover along the Ohio Turnpike, because it's right off the exit from US23 coming down from Michigan. Property was very well maintained, sleeping room comfortable, and bathroom well appointed. Only negative was the AC kind of loud. Otherwise it's a nice place to stay and very reasonably priced. There are a half dozen other hotels all within the same footprint, but this was a good choice. The restaurant wasn't great for dinner (slow service), but was good for breakfast.

The good: Located near the highway, many shops and restaurants (still need a car, however), large room, comfortable bed, nice Dove liquid hand soap and body lotion, decent coffee. The not so good: My room was damp and musty smelling and things were not as clean as they should have been; there was a black hair in my tub and another long one on top of one of the "clean" towels on the counter. The threshold between the carpet edge and the bathroom was full of dirt and ick, one of my pillow cases had black marks on it and the bedspread had two small stains as well. The air conditioning unit rattled so much that sleeping without earplugs wasn't an option. The closet door was fitted with a massive auto-closing hinge such that it would not stay open without one holding it. This was very frustrating when putting away, or trying to select clothes. Lastly, the room honestly looked like it had been furnished from a yard sale. Everything was SO random. Apart from the two nightstands, NOTHING matched. Usually in a hotel room things come from the same "series" and everything matches and provides a cohesive and calming visual experience. Here I felt like I was living in a second hand shop. I realise this doesn't "matter" in the grand scheme of things, but it was weird and unsettling and I felt, worth noting. Overall this hotel was like staying in a cheap motel for which, after taxes, I paid nearly $500CAD for two nights. NOT RECOMMENDED

We were traveling home from PA and needed to stop for the night. We were driving a truck and pulling a 30ft trailer so we needed a place with a decent sized parking lot and wanted easy access off/on I80W and we’re hoping for a nearby restaurant so we could get a quick dinner. This hotel provided all of that. Great customer service at check in and it took only a few minutes to complete the check in process. Our room (King) was very spacious, clean and had a fridge, microwave and big bathroom. We went down to the restaurant in the hotel (Sabas) and had a surprisingly wonderful dinner! Our server, Linda, was fantastic. She recommended food, was quick with our drinks and the food was fantastic. (Get the cheesecake! You will not be disappointed!). The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was quiet. Although only a few rooms away from the elevator, we never heard any sound from the rooms near us or the hallway. Had a very restful night and got up and checked out this morning ready to finish our drive home. The only (slight) negative is that there’s no complimentary breakfast. Breakfast is made to order at the same restaurant. We didn’t feel like a sit down breakfast so we skipped it. But there is complimentary coffee in the lobby.

Bathroom smelled like e-cigarettes, breakfast required a fee, linens on one bed smelled like perfume, other bed and towels smelled clean.

They switched our room to the top floor because there were a lot of (loud) kids there that weekend. Very nice and extremely understanding!

Nice and clean, and just off of I-90. Sabas Bistro was great with excellent service and right in the hotel.
