São Lourenço do Barrocal

The first thing you’ll hear when you arrive are birds chirping. It’s like stepping into Garden of Eden. The hotel is world class in terms of architecture, amenities, service and history. The concierge is very helpful and knowledgeable, they gave me a personalised itinerary suggestions when I checked in, arranged taxis, and even made sure to check on my safety as I am a solo lady travelling in Portugal. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful retreat. It’s a perfect getaway for stressed out business travellers.

My 2 night stay at the Barrocal Hotel was nothing short of magical. The property itself is magnificent, impeccably maintained, and exudes a charming farmhouse vibe that makes it feel both comfortable and livable. The design is thoughtfully curated, blending rustic style with modern comforts perfectly. The pool area and outdoor dining facilities truly make you feel like you’re living in the middle of a vineyard, surrounded by the stunning landscape. Each room is equipped with every amenity you might need, and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. A special shout-out to Patricia in the boutique who was extraordinarily helpful. She took the time to educate us about the local wines and artisan products available in the store, making our experience all the more enriching. Het passion for the region truly enhanced our stay. Overall, Barrocal Hotel is a true dream destination. It offers a wonderful way to experience the countryside of Portugal, and I can't recommend it enough for anyone looking to escape and immerse themselves in the beauty of this area.

We can’t say enough about how special São Lourenço do Barrocal is! From the minute we arrived we felt so taken care of and worlds away. The history of the property is fascinating, and it was obvious that it continues to spark the passion of all who work there and brought the heart to our experience. The grounds are nature at its finest with lush green grass, natural brush, and olives trees (one was over 2000 years old). The food was delicious with property sourced vegetables from the garden. The breakfast was fantastic where you can select from their generous buffet or order off their menu.  We ate at both of their restaurants and DELISH! We stayed in the suite which was rustic luxury!!! The suite is large and cozy and we had a view of the vineyards and the Monsaraz castle.  We toured the property by horseback and that was a magical way to learn about the history while soaking up the property. We saw cows and bulls too and they now have goats! Our horse guide said that during spring all the land is green, and the wildflowers are exploding everywhere. You can take a long walk/hike around the property or just relax by their pools. We had a massage by Ofelia and Marta who were FABULOUS!!! We’ve had many massages over the years, and these ladies were top notch. They were so kind and talented. We highly recommend them. The concierge was on top of everything…We’ve never experienced such promptness, and warm detailed care. Our rental car had low air in the tires. I asked if there was anywhere I could get them filled…they suggested that they had a portable air compressor and could try it before sending me to a gas station. They couldn’t promise anything, but they could try. I went out to our car, and they literally brought a large air compressor on the back of a golf cart and filled my tires. It worked perfectly and gave us peace-of-mind for our drive to Lisbon. They even rinsed off our car because it was beyond dusty. BRAVO São Lourenço do Barrocal…we miss you all!!!

Everything about the Sao Lourenço do Barrocal Farmscape was 5 stars. The staff, food and lodging are all amazing. Tatianna, João and the rest do the dining staff were always so polite and willing to talk with us. The food is outstanding. Truly farm to table. Everything is so fresh. I learned so much about the local olive oil process and the pumpkin jam is to die for. I hope to come back!
