Mowies on the Beach

Mowies, fantastic location, room, staff, service, food, drink, ambience, amenities. We came to Gilli Air as it wasn't " the party Island ", we booked at Mowies as our son had recommended after he'd visited the island. Mowies is a 10 minute walk along the seaside from the port and main street in Gilli Air or a nice , easy cycle ride. The beachside location has stunning views and guests enjoy reserved sun loungers with umbrella, there's also a pool for when the tide goes out or you want to get away from the beach. Our room was the upstairs balcony room. Great size, functional, cleaned daily and private. The bar isn't noisy and is shut quite early, however I would take earplugs if you're early to bed as there is music played at other bars close by. Food, staff, location were absolutely brilliant. I couldn't point out a single fault. Gilli Air was a haven away from the constant traffic on the mainland and Mowies was the perfect location to sit back, relax and enjoy the peace. I hope to God, the Influencers don't find and ruin it before my next visit.

Great bungalows on the south shore of the island. We where staying there for one week on our family trip to Bali and Gili Islands. They have great food as well.

Lovely bungalows. Very clean. The bar and restaurant food is excellent and the cocktails to die for. Right on the beach. Staff are attentive and can’t do enough. Especially sopardi who looked after us and arranged a snorkelling trip with his uncle Alex which was amazing. The only problem was the smell in the evenings behind the back bungalows.

I adored my three nights at Mowie’s and would definitely return. Great location on the west side of the island, on the beach, nice breeze off the water in hot weather, near other restaurants and walking distance to bars / live music. You can walk all over the island or rent a bike to enjoy it some more, I just wished I rented the bike from day one! My room was fantastic, great size, good amenities and clean, plus a seating area on the deck. The food at Mowie’s was also define, I ate breakfast and lunch here multiple times for good reason. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I cannot rate Mowie’s highly enough!

We have just returned from 4 nights in Mowies, where we paid for a ‘seaside superior bungalow’. We stayed at Mowies towards the end of our trip in Indonesia, where we’d been lucky enough to stay in some very nice hotels. We therefore felt a little underwhelmed upon check in. Firstly the location, staff, bar and restaurant area were all very very good. The bungalows are just across from the beach, which is perfect for sunsets and Mowies serves great food and drinks (the quality and presentation of the food and drinks was probably some of the best we’d experienced in Indonesia, and therefore we agree it deserves a slightly higher price, but honestly wasn’t much more!). Lots of other guests visit Mowies to use their bar/restaurant services, and we enjoyed being able to walk minutes to a huge variety of other options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the beautiful island also. The bungalow itself is where we were disappointed. I appreciate you don’t come on holiday to sit in your room, but equally it just felt rather basic… The room was fairly dark with a damp smell, and of the 4 windows, only 1 (the main sliding door) had a curtain, meaning we had to wear an eye mask to be in darkness. The room was provided with one small wardrobe, meaning we were limited on space for our clothes, there was also no kettle or space for tea/coffee. The towels we were provided in the bathroom weren’t changed during our stay either, making them rather smelly towards the end of our visit! We would 100% return to Gili Air and felt it was the perfect mix of beauty and facilities, however I feel we’d choose to stay elsewhere and only visit Mowies for dinner/drinks during our stay. For fast boats to/from Bali and Lombok, we’d recommend the Golden Queen. Very comfortable (lots of seats and ventilation) and only an hour behind schedule.

Very nice location. Nice foods. But very poor service. I ate there. Food was ok. Area was very nice. They went up to cashier to pay. They showed me code to scan. I paid. Then they said their mechine didnot work and the payment has not come through. But my bank already took my money. The staff said the money should bounce back. Then they asked me to make another payment as the previous one did not come through to their system. Now its been 3 days and my money did not bounce back. I asked them for refund but they did not want to give me any refund. Such a shame. Nice restaurant but they dont do the right thing. They double charged me.
