An absolutely beautiful experience x we had Fletchers restaurant to our selves for a family celebration of 14 people x the food was exquisite I had the smoked salmon and crab for starter and my husband had the hake x the monkfish for main alongside my partners lamb was just gorgeous x the lamb might have been a bit pink for some but my husband loved it x my dessert called ‘sunflowers’was the most beautiful dessert I have ever seen and I really did not want to break into to eat it but once I did it was outstanding my husband had the creme brulee and he said was the best he had ever had … along with numerous other family members who had the same ! x the staff were exemplary x our experience from start to finish was flawless and would recommend from start to end x an expensive but worthwhile experience x

Honestly I haven't seen service better in years. For me and my husband the quality of service is the most important criteria. Not only we were pampered to death and surrounded by prompt accommodation of our every need but also literally everyone in this property was genuinely kind, highly professional and taking pride in doing their job. That alone is amazing nowadays but having said that I don't want to disregard the quality of the property itself. It is a rare combination of peaceful environment close to nature (charming farmland around, some hikes almost at the back door) and a party time (fun evening and night outlets). For the comfort of the guests fun venues are located separatly of where the guests sleep. Speaking of venues the room/venue ratio is amazing, restaurants all have different atmosphere and concept, if you are not that hungry in the evening after having the high tea, you can grab a snack in one of the beautiful bars (quiet or lively) and in the summer time you are getting a plethora of outside sitting options as well. We stayed for a week and could have had dinner in different spots every night but we enjoyed the Pan-Asian restaurant too much so did it twice. Our Executive room was fantastic, very well maintained and combining modern comfort with the spirit of old ages, beautifully decorated, thoughtfully planned for 2 guests, lots of windows with both the river and the garden view on the other side. Lucious gardens of the Grantley Hall are worth separate mentioning. We got there during the extreme and rare drought but could never tell - so it was well taken care of. Apart from the beautiful English gardens there is a Japanese garden well worth exploring as well as the river and the Chef's garden. I imagine it is beautiful any time of the year. This was the only hotel gym I have ever seen decorated with marble statues. Beautiful in itself it boasts not only a solid cardio zone but also has everything you need for a proper strength training session, CrossFit and more. Never tried pool area and SPA but it looked gorgeous as well. I can go on forever but to wrap it up I must say it has just one drawback for us - located too far from the United States where we live so we can not frequent this place as much as we want.
