The Studenthostel Utrecht

The experience was alright, not the best one. But just that we needed a place to stay for the night and it fulfilled the purpose. Price high. Amenities few!

Some parts of this hostel are serious dirty. And absolutely bad that there are no privat shower options. Only one bathroom with some showers where everyone can walk in and out. Not nice for womans.

I stayed at the Studenthostel B&B in central Utrecht and came away impressed, especially for the price point. The location is excellent — a 10–15 minute walk from Utrecht Centraal and right in the middle of the old centre, so the canals, museums and restaurants are all easily reachable on foot. What sets it apart is the food. A free breakfast is included and served until late morning, and it's a real breakfast rather than a token gesture. The communal kitchen is also stocked with free food throughout the day, with vegan options, so lunch is genuinely covered. Free coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available all day as well. If you're travelling on a budget, this makes a serious difference to what the stay actually costs you. The atmosphere is friendly and social. The common area has a TV, board games, guitars and a piano, and it's well used, so it's an easy place to meet other travellers. The crowd is mixed and relaxed. Special mention to Sandra at reception — direct, warm and very helpful. She gives you clear information without any fuss and genuinely looks after the guests. A note on expectations: the accommodation is simple by design. Dorms have bunk beds and lockers, nothing more. Bring your own padlock and bed sheets (a pillow and blanket are provided). The WiFi is fast and reaches the whole building. If you want a clean, sociable, well-located base in Utrecht and don't need luxury, this is a very easy recommendation.
