River Rooms Nottingham

The stay was generally fine, but we did encounter a few issues: 1. We were not informed in advance that a new PIN would be sent by email shortly before check-in. We assumed the PIN on our original confirmation was the one to use and spent quite some time trying to figure this out. No one picked up the customer service phone line. 2. We were unfamiliar with the key vault system and again spent time working out how to open it. A simple instruction sheet on the wall would have helped. 3. The shower design does not prevent water from spilling onto the bathroom floor. 4. Using {sitting on} the toilet during a cold night was uncomfortable because it is not heated.

Very clean & tidy. Basically serviced accommodation. Decent size room with standard double bed and modern bathroom. Shower cubicle was a bit on the small size but quite adequate and shower had decent power. Kitchen useful. Easy self access with plenty of parking. Recommended for one or two nights stay over. We will use again.

I have stayed in accommodation all over the world, and I can confidently say this place is an absolute joke. It is marketed as a proper hotel or guesthouse, but in reality, it is basically a glorified, overpriced hostel. Never book here. The only positive thing I can say is that the location is good, and it operates on a self-service basis, but everything else was a complete nightmare. The Room & Bathroom: • Deceptive Marketing: The actual property looks absolutely nothing like the advertised pictures online. • Tiny & Cramped: The top-floor rooms have incredibly low ceilings, and the bathrooms are exceptionally small with no luggage rack to store your bags. • Poor Amenities: There wasn't even a basic hand towel provided. The shower was incredibly basic (definitely no power shower), the shower door was incredibly stiff to open/close, and the body wash dispenser didn't even fit the contents properly. • Run-Down: The flooring throughout the room was completely broken. Safety & Noise: • Dangerous Layout: The stairs are steep and genuinely dangerous to navigate. • Zero Soundproofing: The walls are paper-thin. You can hear every single thing the other guests are doing, making it unbelievably noisy at night. • Street Noise: The property sits on a really noisy road. Every time a lorry drives past, the entire building literally shakes. Parking & Management: • The Parking is Ridiculous: The parking setup is tight and incredibly awkward. To make matters worse, they have a perfectly good, fully tarmacked car park roped off and completely unusable. Because it was impossible to park on-site, I had to drive into town, park there, and pay out of pocket. • Abysmal Service: The communication from management was complete crap from start to finish. Save your money, save your sanity, and find somewhere else to stay. This place is awful.

I feel it is important to share my experience. I never actually stayed at the hotel because, upon arrival, I discovered there was no parking available despite the property advertising parking facilities. After spending considerable time searching the surrounding area without success, I was forced to make alternative arrangements and book a room at another hotel. The lack of available parking completely disrupted our plans. I lost approximately three hours of valuable daylight that I had intended to spend exploring Nottingham with my family. To make matters worse, I specifically asked a member of staff, Alex, whether I should cancel and book elsewhere. His response was, "Yea please feel free to cancel." Based on this advice, I made a new booking at a different hotel. Fortunately, the alternative hotel was able to accommodate us and helped save my daughter's birthday celebration, as we already had tickets booked for Jazz at Peggy's. Had I remained searching for parking, we would likely have missed our plans entirely. I requested a full (28th August 2026) refund with no deductions or cancellation fees. The situation was not caused by me, but by the lack of available parking despite it being advertised as part of the hotel's offering. Completely ignored. 6 emails sent and nothing. All the trouble for £119? These people really need all the money they can get as customer service and people skills are appalling. 11th Sep 2026 and no money returned. My final opinion: are you really going to book River Rooms Nottingham knowing that you may not have parking and loose your room/time/patience and possible all plans you had?

After reflecting on my experience I actually this this is a scam! The pictures in their advertising are of other restaurants/hotels. This is an apartment with key pad entry and they don’t send you an email to confirm code/access. When I called they sent me a text to say “in a team meeting, call back later” When I replied “I am outside and unable to enter my booking” they ignored me. After cancelling via *******, a transit van came over within minutes and tried to block me in the car park. PLEASE DONT BOOK this hostel! It’s not worth the effort

There was just enough parking, the instructions on how to enter the property was simple & accurate. The room was perfect for an overnight stop, bed clothing was fresh & clean. The shower was on the small size (I’m Big) other than that great.

Really pleased with accommodation very close to Trent bridge cricket ground. Apartment very good and well equipped . Instructions great and clean and comfortable. The apartment advertises parking and pictures show many spaces but there are only about 6 and 3 of these are not accessible in a large car. We arrived 3 hours early and had to pay to park a fair walk away which defeated the object of accommodation.
