Lewis River Inn

Room- clean and comfortable  Breakfast- limited: waffles, biscuits & gravy, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins. No meat, no cold cereal. First keys didn’t work. Second keys to our room did work, but somebody else’s stuff was in the room. Third set of keys - to new room - worked. Clean and empty! And comfortable. Good air conditioning with outdoor temps in the 90’s.

We just needed a place to sleep outside of Portland on our way into WA. Very pleasant accomodations and staff. Big fluffy towels!! The next morning enjoyed the back patio overlooking the river - so peaceful.

The context of this trip was a stay the night before and the night after an arduous hike to the summit of Mt. St. Helens. Woodland is the most convenient gateway city for an attack on the summit (well, other than perhaps the very small town of Cougar, WA, but it has very limited amenities). As of summer 2025, Woodland does not seem to have any "name brand" hotels in the middle-upper tier of the lodging continuum. It is with some trepidation that I book a room at an independent hotel or motel with relatively low room rates, but I have to say this property was a pleasant surprise, providing a spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet room. It's not "luxury", but it was plenty sufficient for my taste. My friend (who stayed in a different room) was fairly happy with it too. Check-in was fast and efficient, with a very friendly desk clerk (alas, I do not recall her name) and a basket of Tootsie Rolls and other candies. The room was clean and spacious, with fresh white bedding and linens. It also had a nice couch. The climate control worked well on the very hot check-in day and was also not overly noisy like some hotel HVAC units are. I appreciate that the room had a refrigerator and microwave, and the refrigerator also had a small freezer compartment that came in handy for refreezing my reusable ice blocks. The sink area is outside the bathroom and has a spacious counter. The bathroom and shower were clean and the water pressure was good. The room had plenty of electrical outlets. The parking lot is spacious and felt well-lit and secure. The mattress was comfortable. The TV had an extensive selection of channels, and the TV responded quickly to "channel up" and "channel down", enabling fast channel surfing. The back of the hotel abuts the Lewis River. There are a few premium rooms with nice views of the river, and also a pleasant patio area available to all guests. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast. My friend and I were not able to take advantage of it on the first morning as we were heading off to our hike at 3:30 AM. However, we had breakfast on the second morning. It's not fine dining but it is sufficient. There's a waffle maker, and also boiled eggs, yogurt, instant oatmeal, pastries and bread, orange juice and milk and coffee. There are several restaurants within a 3-minute walk of the hotel, including a very nice Mexican restaurant across the street at which my friend and I enjoyed an indulgent dinner after our ascent of Mt. St. Helens. There's a small park on the other side of I-5 called "Horseshoe Lake Park" where there are some walking paths that provide a pleasant place to stretch your legs. My only complaint is that the WiFi signal was not very strong (at least not in my room) and hence pages loaded slowly. If I were to return to the area, I would be fine to stay here again.

We were greeted with fresh popcorn and sweet treats in a lovely reception area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the river with beautiful views. Plus, they had comfortable chairs and beds.

This was a very comfortable, convenient experience. The staff was friendly, and provided a quick easy check-in. The room was well-appointed, comfortable, and clean. I was surprised how quiet my stay was. The continental breakfast was hot and tasty, too.

Nice river view. Bed was pretty good, pillows awful and body wash container empty. Nothing major just inconvenient. It was a nice stay

Very clean, nicely remodeled room with 2 recliners to watch TV. Had a room with a balcony with river view.
