Burn Hall Hotel

Positives: well priced, beautiful location, breakfast included. Negatives: the older man on reception would not acknowledge me at check in, despite it being booked and paid for by myself (a female), he insisted on only discussing check in with my partner (male). Sexism is not what I was expecting at a country hotel. Second issue was the floorboards were INCREDIBLY squeaky. I was woken at 5am by the room above me walking around and I’m aware when I walked around the floor in my room was just as squeaky. It was annoying and disruptive. The hotel was pretty and well kept outside but it is not what is shown in the first image on Trip. Inside the room was a little dated and could’ve been cleaner.

The hotel is good, situated in a nice place (for drivers), parking is free. Room was of a good size, very clean and quiet. Water pressure and temperature were amazing, enjoyed our showers. Good to have a breakfast included as well. Hotel is clean and looks recently renovated. Floors are solid. Huge and good towels, a lot of light in the room. Heating was on when it got colder. Staff were very friendly and nice. Parking was full because of the bank holiday, had to stay far on an overflow parking, good that they have it. Warning about 160 fee for running hot water with the steam was honestly scary and inappropriate. Bed was just double, small for us. We were only able to sleep on our sides (my husband is big, I am average). Breakfast was tasty, but basic. Coffee (you choose tea or coffee) in a pot was too much for 1 person and not tasty at all. No fresh vegetables or/and vegetables, no sliced cheese, no pastry.

This is a nice hotel, very close to York, staffs are friendly, only one let down is the bed isnt clean, but this will not stop us to stay there again, all in all we are happy with the hotel and the breakfast is yummy!

Nice 20mins out-of-city centre location. Nicely converted property. Easy & friendly check-in. Small bar with all of the usual drinks. Plenty of seating areas /options indoors and outdoors to relax. Dedicated hard-working staff. Danny particularly impressed me with his dedication, long hours, broad role & knowledge, very helpful manner. I will certainly be remembering Burn Hall Hotel as a place to revisit.

Clean room, comfortable bed and efficient staff . Terrible WiFi, the menu wasn’t particularly inspiring but good enough for a one night stay.

The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city, making public transport quite difficult. You should definitely think twice if you do not have your own vehicle. On the positive side, our room was clean, spacious, and featured a lovely view. The hotel grounds are also very large, which was perfect for a relaxing evening stroll.

Great location if you want a relaxing time away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. Me and the wife had a great time and the service was great especially in the restaurant where we had a lovely meal. Would highly recommend if you want a peaceful weekend or evening away. 😊
