Jewelled sea - natural wonder downunder

It has always been one of my bucket lists to visit the Great Barrier Reef and it certainly did not disappoint! The weather was perfect on our sailing day with cerulean blue sky and light breeze. We booked a cruise tour which included two reef locations- Saxon Reef and Hasting Reef. It was one of the most amazing experience ever! The two sites were quite different in terms of their marine landscapes and great for different activities. The Saxon Reef was relatively greater in depth and would be a perfect location for a dive, whereas Hasting Reef has spectacular coral reef at proximity even when snorkelling. We saw a huge local fish called ‘Wally’ (Maori Wrasse) and many other marine life! Would love to visit another reef next time! Tips: even if the sea was calm, highly recommend to take sea sickness prevention pills in advance. #greatbarrierreef #naturalwonders #queensland #cairns #australia

Welsh’s Pyramid Mountain

Welsh’s Pyramid Mountain

Walshs Pyramid is an independent peak with a distinct pyramidal appearance, located within Wooroonooran National Park, 20 km south of Cairns, Queensland, Australia. An annual footrace is held on the third Saturday in August, to its summit. A very steep walk/ rock climb ! You need a reasonable amount of fitness to finish this. I recommend starting early - it took about 4 hours for me, from 7am to 11am. I carried 2 litres of water with me and that was fine. I would recommend bringing a snack to keep you going - it's a tough one. Do not attempt this in summer because there is not much shade. After the rain do not attempt because a lot of the walking/ climbing is over rocks that get really slippery after rain. It gets really warm so bring a hat! I've seen kids do it but you definitely wanna make sure you're bringing fit kids up.

Dawning of a new day by Yorkey’s Beach

Dawning of a new day by Yorkey’s Beach

The breaking of dawn, by the rising sun towards the Creek where salt meets the fresh, the mouth upon where the snouts of those salt/fresh water crocs can possibly be sighted. The morning breeze fans the cuckabaroos across luscious green that pervades the shoreline, whilst the ocean waves break the calmness of morning, the withered and weary battled the monotony of life and living.

The Great Barrier Reef, Australia's ocean treasure, is like a dreamlike underwater garden lying quietly off the northeast coast. It is the most spectacular coral reef in the world, stretching over 2,000 km, with countless coral reef islands scattered throughout, and its size is astonishing. The coral here is diverse in species and forms. Some corals are like ancient trees, with branches and leaves that shelter marine life from the wind and rain; some are like exquisite works of art, with rounded shapes and delicate textures that show the craftsmanship of nature; others are like fireworks, with brilliant colors and unique shapes that instantly light up the entire underwater space. Colorful tropical fish swim happily among the corals, with the playfulness of clownfish and the elegance of angelfish, they complement each other with the corals, creating vivid and lively pictures. Great Barrier Reef: A Dreamy Blue Painting by Nature

The Great Barrier Reef is a mysterious wonderland created by nature under the sea. Look, the colorful coral reefs are like an underwater garden, with colorful corals like blooming flowers, competing for beauty in the sea. This is a paradise for marine life. A group of sharks, like well-trained soldiers, swim neatly among the reefs, guarding this territory. The sea turtle (Figure 3) is like a leisurely old man, slowly moving through the coral bushes, enjoying the peaceful time. The waters of the Great Barrier Reef are like a huge blue satin, shimmering in the sunlight. The clear sea water is like transparent glass, allowing people to glimpse the wonderful world under the sea. The Great Barrier Reef is the most magnificent gift the ocean has given to mankind, and we have a responsibility to protect this natural beauty.

Chezest Cafe

#australiatrip This is a cute, no-nonsense cafe and bakery. It's clean, efficiently run and staff are polite. They have a Japanese twist too, with chicken and pork katsu offered in curry and sandwich format. The food is fresh and exactly what you expect. It's slightly more expensive than I would normally pay, but it was a pleasant experience. I recommend adding the sautéd mushrooms to your breakfast! Very tasty.

The Great Barrier Reef: An underwater kingdom and natural wonder.

The Great Barrier Reef: An underwater kingdom and natural wonder.

Located in Queensland, northeastern Australia, the Great Barrier Reef is a marine wonder that stretches for thousands of kilometers. It is not only a treasure of Australia, but also a treasure of the global coral reef ecosystem, known as the "underwater tropical rainforest". 🌴🌈 🧬History and Formation The formation of the Great Barrier Reef can be traced back to the Neogene period 5 million years ago. Due to crustal movement and climate change, the sea level rose, providing ideal conditions for the formation of coral reefs. Coral insects and microorganisms have been deposited for thousands of years, forming the spectacular scenery we see today. 🧱🌊The Great Barrier Reef is composed of about 2,900 independent coral reefs and 900 islands of various sizes. It is about 2,300 kilometers long and 161 kilometers wide at its widest point. It is the largest coral reef system in the world. 🌍🏖️ 🐠A Treasure Trove of Biodiversity The Great Barrier Reef is a habitat for marine life, nurturing thousands of species, providing them with unique shelters and abundant food sources. Various colorful corals grow on the coral reefs, from red corals to blue corals, from giant brain corals to tiny finger corals, each with its own unique shape and beauty. 🌺🌈Tropical fish shuttle here, from clownfish to sharks, from turtles to sea snakes, various marine life coexist here harmoniously, forming a colorful ecosystem. 🐠🦈 🚣‍♂️Adventure and Tourist Destination The Great Barrier Reef is a paradise for diving enthusiasts. Whether it is snorkeling or deep diving, you can get close to this mysterious underwater world. Put on diving equipment, dive into the blue sea, you can see every inch of detail on the coral reef, feel the softness of the coral and the agility of the fish. 🤿🐙In addition, the Great Barrier Reef also offers a variety of tourism methods such as glass-bottom boat tours and semi-submarine sightseeing, allowing you to enjoy this underwater wonder without diving. 🚤🌊 🌍💚Environmental Protection and Conservation However, the Great Barrier Reef is facing a huge threat. Global warming has caused the ocean temperature to rise and the ocean to acidify, causing great damage to coral reefs. The bleaching of coral reefs is becoming more and more serious, and many corals have died or are on the verge of death. 🔥🌊In addition, overfishing, industrial pollution, and marine plastic pollution have also caused immeasurable damage to the ecosystem of the Great Barrier Reef. 😢🚫Therefore, protecting the Great Barrier Reef has become an important task for global environmental organizations. In short, the Great Barrier Reef is a wonderful world full of vitality. Its ancient history and colorful ecological environment are amazing. 🌍🌈Let's take action together to protect this precious underwater wonder, so that future generations can also appreciate this miracle of the earth. 🌍💪
