2025 Beitou Hot Spring Area Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in June)
All Moments About Beitou Hot Spring Area
A healing journey in Beitou Hot Spring Village
In the misty, rainy and slightly cold Taipei, the best thing to do is to soak in the hot springs♨️. I took the MRT to Xinbeitou and visited #xinbeitou Railway Station, #Beitou Library, and #Beitou Hot Spring Museum. The Beitou Hot Spring Museum is free to visit and introduces the development and history of hot springs in Beitou District. The Japanese retro architectural style is beautiful.
Walking through #GUITARBridge, it takes about 5 minutes to reach #GEOTHERMAL VALLEY. The geothermal valley is filled with steam and smoke, making it as dreamy as entering a fairyland on earth. It takes about 15 minutes to walk along the trail in the valley. I use steam on my face, does it really have a beauty effect?
Finally, when you feel tired, go to #FuxingPark for a free foot bath🦶, which can promote blood circulation and eliminate fatigue. It's a perfect day. All the above attractions are free.

#100 Ways to Travel
Beitou, a suburb of Taipei, is well-known for its hot spring culture. It is also a popular place for locals to take a bath and keep warm during the cold winter. Although it was a hot summer this time, I still took the time to take the half-hour MRT north to experience the backyard of Taipei people with an always exploring mentality.
⭐️Beitou Hot Spring Museum: Originally a public bathhouse built during the Japanese occupation in 1913. Its architectural style combines the features of Japanese wooden structures and English country villas. It is backed by green mountains and the surrounding environment is elegant and tranquil. Tickets are free, but you need to take off your shoes to enter.
In 1998, it was officially opened to the public after maintenance and renovation and became the Beitou Hot Spring Museum. The interior fully displays the local hot spring history, development process and scientific knowledge through illustrated display boards and exquisite installations. It is very ornamental and embodies the power of bottom-up community building.
The museum's indoor highlights are the central hot spring bath on the underground floor and the large Japanese-style platform on the second floor. Well-preserved original design elements such as Romanesque arches and stained glass windows can be seen everywhere, creating a very relaxing atmosphere.
⭐️Geothermal Valley:
After leaving the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, you can walk along the greenway to the Geothermal Valley, a unique natural landscape site in the area and one of the sources of the Beitou Hot Springs. White sulfur smoke rises all year round, adding a layer of mystery.
It is worth mentioning that the employees of the souvenir shop near the entrance of the geothermal valley are basically all disabled people. Under the guidance of ordinary employees, they provide beverage making and specialty introduction services to tourists, reflecting the original intention of local integrated employment.
⭐️Transportation: Take the MRT Tamsui Xinyi Line to Beitou Station and then transfer to the Xinbeitou Branch Line to Xinbeitou Station. It takes only five minutes to walk to your destination.

Thermal Valley(地熱谷)💫💫💫
@Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan.
It’s an amazing scenic lake valley with hot spring - the Beitou Thermal Valley(地熱谷) the awesome power of the natural environment, and the geothermal springs in Beitou district.⭐️✨✨It’s a small nature park which is free of charge for visitors and consists solely of a small lake with a fenced off walkway while walking along the path. The main attraction of the lake apart from emerald green colour of the water, probably is the year-round sulphuric steam that rises up from the water and blankets the valley in a haze of extremely humid fog.🤗✨
The water temperature in Thermal Valley’s lake at least 80-100℃😆✨the eggs sure get cooked in the water, so called “hot-spring eggs”. For safety reason, it’s now prohibited to boil eggs or getting closer to the lake, which is now with a fenced off walkway for all visitors.
#highlyrecommended😘✨please try their “hot-spring eggs”(温泉蛋) at stall near the entrance of the lake park.👍🏻✨thumbs up!

Taiwan Travel|Beitou Hot Springs
A cold wave has hit recently, and the temperature has dropped dramatically, to only 8 degrees. This kind of weather is most suitable for taking a hot spring bath, and the most convenient place to take a hot spring bath in Taipei is Beitou. Not only are there hot springs to soak in, but there are also many places to walk around and relax, which is great! ! ! Friends who want to soak in hot springs can come to Beitou~

Look at the entrance, there are about 4-5 shops because at first we didn't see the sign, so we walked straight up the hill.
When we walked into the Thermal Valley hot spring area, just seeing it from a distance made us exclaim "wow". It was a magical moment. When the wind blew the smoke from the hot water up, it was so beautiful, it seemed magical. 555

Affordable White Sulfur Hot Springs in Beitou
Looking for a relaxing soak in Beitou's famous white sulfur hot springs without breaking the bank? Head to the long-standing Lichih Resort!
If you're visiting Beitou and searching for a high-value hot spring accommodation to unwind, Lichih Resort is a must-visit! This well-established local inn has consistently received great reviews, especially for its affordable prices that make every penny worth it. Whether you're planning a short getaway with meals included or just want to enjoy a spontaneous hot spring soak, Lichih Resort offers flexible options to suit your needs.
The rooms here are simple yet cozy—not the luxurious type—but they are clean, quiet, and relaxing. Their private hot spring baths are particularly popular, featuring Beitou's renowned natural white sulfur springs. The water feels smooth and gentle, without the pungent sulfur smell, leaving your skin soft and rejuvenated after soaking.
One of my favorite moments is relaxing in the room after a soak, sipping on a drink, and binge-watching shows while feeling warm and comfortable. The next morning, you can enjoy a simple yet satisfying breakfast with both Western and Asian options. It's not extravagant, but it has everything you need to start your day. After breakfast, you can easily explore Beitou or Yangmingshan.
If you're looking for an affordable yet quality hot spring inn near Beitou, Lichih Resort is an excellent choice! Whether it's a romantic date, a gathering with friends, or a solo trip to unwind, this place offers a soothing hot spring experience and Beitou's unique therapeutic atmosphere. While it may not have luxurious decor, its focus on service and hot spring quality ensures you can relax and enjoy at a reasonable price. Next time you're planning a hot spring trip to Beitou, make sure to add Lichih Resort to your list!
Beitou Half Day Tour
On my first day in Taipei, I went to Beitou and Tamsui. What impressed me most was the witch legend of Beitou - the Pingpu people believed that the smoke from the hot springs was magic that protected the spring water resources. The reality is not so romantic. During the Japanese occupation, Beitou became one of the sanatoriums for the Japanese army in the Pacific battlefield. The Japanese style of the architecture and planning can still be seen today.
The Beitou Hot Spring Museum is a former bathhouse. Visitors need to change their shoes when entering or leaving the museum, which is quite unique. The museum also retains some of its previous exhibits, and there is a Roman bath in the basement (it can only be said that Taipei also has its own Bath).
Beitou Library is rather boring, just an ordinary library. I took a look and left.
I had originally planned to take a bath, but the Beitou open-air hot spring bath was not open, and I didn't want to go to the bathhouse alone, plus the weather was hot, so I gave up. I heard that the Qingshuang Spring in Beitou is quite famous. I will come back to try it if I have the chance.
The Geothermal Valley is a very small park. There are two rows of stone chairs set above the hot spring. It should be very comfortable to sit on them when the weather is cool. In the summer, you can just look at the steaming water and leave (on the way there you can see the Japanese garden-style planning I mentioned).
Afterwards, we took a detour to Xiangyang Xinyuan. There were almost no tourists when I went. Xiangyang Garden itself is not big. It was part of the hospital built by the Japanese army in Beitou during the Japanese occupation period. Other parts have been rebuilt and continue to be used as hospitals, and only Xiangyang Garden has been preserved as a historical site. This is also the filming location for "A Touch of Green" and "Cha Jin". The ticket is NT$50, which includes a free tour guide, a cup of barley tea, and a NT$50 discount at the souvenir shop. When I went there, there was an activity of giving away towels, which I could use at the outdoor foot bath in Xiangyang Xinyuan. Presumably due to the advancement of mental health knowledge in dealing with the mental trauma of soldiers during and after the war, the operation of Xiangyang Xinyuan also supports the welfare of people with disabilities, and the income from tickets and souvenir shops will be used to support related services.
The people I met in Beitou were very friendly. It is a very lovely place.
Longbourn Hotel
#HawaiiAirlineEvent
This is Longbon Resort Beitou Taipei.
It is located near Xinbeitou Station, and there is a KFC and Welcome Mad nearby~ It is not bad geographically. This is the magnificent lobby seen from outside.
It makes you feel like you are looking at a Chinese building.
It drizzled a little on the day of arrival, so the air was a bit stuffy,
but the air was very clean, and Xinbeitou is famous for its hot springs and is developed,
so even on the streets, you can smell sulfur (a musty smell)^^ The room was quite modern and had a good atmosphere.
The floor and bedding were nice and clean. As expected, Xinbeitou has really good air!
In particular, I felt that this Longbon Hotel was a good hotel in the morning!
Step Into Taiwan’s Spa History
#taipeitrip
One highlight of my Taipei trip was visiting the Beitou Hot Springs Museum. The entrance itself gave me a warm, welcoming feel with red-and-white lanterns hanging above and old-school bathhouse details inside. I didn’t expect a museum to feel so charming!
Walking through the rooms, I saw how hot springs played such a big role in Taiwanese culture. There were posters from the past, traditional wooden floors, and even a large bathhouse space that used to be in use! It felt like a blend of Japanese influence and local Taiwanese spirit. Perfect for history lovers and curious minds alike.
Beitou Geothermal Valley: Nature’s Steamy Secret ♨️
#discoverchina #taipeitrip
Hidden in the hills of Taipei, Beitou Geothermal Valley feels like stepping into another world — where mist rises from emerald-green waters and the air carries the scent of natural sulfur. This geothermal hot spring is a stunning sight, with steamy clouds rolling over the surface like something out of a fantasy film.
It’s a peaceful yet powerful reminder of Taiwan’s volcanic energy beneath the surface. Just a short walk from Xinbeitou MRT Station, this natural wonder is a must-see stop when exploring Beitou’s famous hot spring district.
During my
During my 4-night, 5-day trip to Taipei,
I went to Beitou Hot Springs one day. ♨️
It was a pity that many places were closed because it was Monday,
but thanks to that, I was able to enjoy hot springs in a really old hot spring.
Beitou Diregu (Geothermal Valley) in Taipei, Taiwan🌳
[Trip Moment Delivery.🗞️]
Let's go to Beitou Geothermal Valley in Taipei, Taiwan for this trip!!✈️
🛄ㅣBeitou Diregu (Geothermal Valley,地熱谷)🌳
Beitou Geothermal Valley is a place with active geothermal activity, so much so that it is also nicknamed "Hell Valley." It is a hot spring lake naturally formed by volcanic activity, and you can see hot steam rising all year round~!!
The hot spring water here is rich in sulfur, so it smells a little bit of sulfur, and the color of the water changes from emerald to jade depending on the light, creating a very mysterious atmosphere.
In addition, it is easy to access, as it takes about 30 minutes by MRT (Taiwanese Subway) from downtown Taipei. So it's a great place to visit for a light half-day trip!😆
✔ Admire the jade-colored hot spring water
The biggest attraction here is the mysterious jade-colored hot spring water. The color looks different depending on the angle of the sunlight. Some days it looks emerald, and some days it looks blue, making it feel even more mysterious~✌️
✔ Experience the steam rising from the hot spring water
Hot steam continuously rises from the hot spring water, creating an atmosphere as if there's a mysterious fog. When you get close, you can feel the warm air, and the smell of sulfur spreads in the air, allowing you to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the hot spring area!!
✔ Take a great picture
This place is also famous as a great photo spot! The combination of white steam rising from the hot spring water and the blue lake was fantastic, making it the perfect place to take some great photos of nature.👍

Beitou Half Day Tour ♨️🥚
It's really great to soak in hot springs in winter. That day, I took the MRT to Beitou.
The cold wind as soon as I got off the car increased my anticipation for the hot springs. The scenery there was quite fresh, and the comfortable atmosphere of life reduced the biting cold. On the way to the hot spring hotel, I also went to the local library. Walking on the hot spring street felt quite special. It was not like a busy tourist area, but a quite quiet living area. After going up the mountain, I arrived at the hot spring hotel.
After soaking in the comfortable hot spring, I felt refreshed from head to toe. After resting for a while, I walked down the hillside and saw a small food stall in the alley. Eating hot spring eggs is a must in the hot spring area, so I went to buy some to try. It would have been a good thing if I hadn't eaten them. I was surprised. The handmade chili sauce they made was super fragrant, not very spicy. It was so delicious when eaten with the eggs that I ate it. I immediately took another bottle of chili sauce back.
On a cold winter night, a trip to a hot spring that warms your body and heart is the best ♨️#温泉
Taipei Beitou Hot Springs Takinoyu
#0yentravelFebruary2025 "Takinoyu" opened in 1907
"Monument commemorating the Crown Prince's crossing"
When Emperor Showa, who was then the Crown Prince, visited Beitou in 1923, he visited the Beitou Public Baths and strolled along the Beitou River. At that time, stepping stones were newly laid in the river to make walking more comfortable.
The stone monument "Commemorating the Crown Prince's Crossing" was erected to commemorate this and is still on the grounds of "Takinoyu". Maybe he took a bath there?
It's 46 degrees, so it's quite difficult even for Japanese people to take a bath in the summer!
It's just right for this time of year!
Another unforgettable trip to Taiwan!
I absolutely ADORE Taiwan. I am in fact moving over there! (My boyfriend is Taiwanese and I am thrilled to be relocating from the UK.)
This was my second time visiting and just solidified how much i love the culture, food, views, and people.
You must visit if you have the opportunity! Taipei 101 and Xiemen (Xiemending) are very foreigner friendly.
I already can't wait to return in May full time! #travel #hotsprings #taiwan #nightmarket #shopping #xiaolongbao #scenic
Hiking in a busy city, you can also encounter a small Japanese hot spring area
Recently, I have been running a business trip to Taipei or opening a shop in Hualien. The weather in Taipei in February is not a little cool, but the temperature is in the single digits. It is a bit cold❄️
The most important thing is that it is rare to have good weather with big sun🌞🌟
In a busy life, you still need to relax🌟🌟. In fact, there are hot spring areas with a century of history in Beitou, north of Taipei, or Yangmingshan♨️ However, most of them are hotel hot spring houses with high consumption and tourist nature. At the southwest corner of Yangmingshan, under the Hell Valley of Longfeng Valley, there is a hot spring restaurant next to the hiking trail. You can get to this place by bus from the MRT station. The scenery is beautiful. The school on the top of the mountain is also the university I attended - Cultural University🏙️ Come here just to climb the mountain and take a bath in winter♨️It only costs about 60 yuan, and it is also the source of the springs in Beitou and Yangmingshan-sulfur springs. There will be a sour taste similar to some hot spring areas in Japan. The bathhouse and the surrounding design are also very Japanese♨️ At night, you can also see the distant 101 building and a little night view of Taipei City🌃 A hot spring resort that can really get away from the hustle and bustle in the busy city. Because I came at the time that was not meal time, I didn’t try the local chicken dishes inside. Even on Monday, there were still crowds of people👨👨👦👦👨👨👧👦Popular✨🎈 Tired of shopping, or want to experience a different Taipei travel itinerary, you can arrange a hot spring area that is rare in big cities✨✨

The bright sunshine of Spring Festival
This year, I went to the north from the south to celebrate the New Year. The cherry blossoms in Yangmingshan were so beautiful that I took some photos for everyone to enjoy. Taipei is a very convenient city with convenient transportation. There are many people, but it is not chaotic. Everyone is very well behaved. The queues for getting on and off the bus are very orderly. No wonder! . Internet celebrities from all over the world praised our humanistic qualities. I booked a hot spring hotel in Beitou and took a hot spring bath. The hot springs cured my fatigue after a day.
Hot Spring Valley: A Mystical Misty Escape
#hiddengems
Nestled in the heart of Beitou is the ethereal Hot Spring Valley—a place that feels like stepping into another world. As I walked along the wooden paths, the rising steam from the emerald-green waters created an atmosphere of mystery and magic. The soft bubbling sounds of the springs mixed with the rustling leaves felt like nature’s symphony. This isn’t just a spot for pictures but a reminder of the earth’s raw beauty.
Pro tip: Visit early morning for the quietest and most enchanting experience.

Beitou Hot Springs Footbath
This footbath called Fuxing Park Paojiao Pool is located a short walk from Xinbeitou Station.
There are three baths, but maybe because it's the off-season? When I went there, only one bath was full every day.
I went to soak every day, but it was surprisingly crowded.
It's generally really crowded from 11am to 3pm, with openings from 10am to 11am and 4pm to 6pm.
Eating and drinking are prohibited except for hydration.
There are places where drinking water is dispensed, and water for washing your feet.

Beitou Half Day Tour 🌿♨️ Hot spring culture and natural wonders
#TaipeiAttractions
Came to Taiwan **Beitou** half-day tour🗺️, which is famous for its unique hot spring culture and natural landscape🌊.
First, I went to **Beitou Hot Spring Museum**🏛️. This historic building was once a public bathhouse, and now it has become a display center of hot spring culture📚. Walking into the museum, the formation process and related history of hot springs are displayed, as well as many precious cultural relics, which gave me a deeper understanding of Beitou's hot spring culture🔍.
After that, I headed to **Geothermal Valley**🌋, which is one of the most iconic natural attractions in Beitou. Walking into the geothermal valley, the thick sulfur smell and steamy scene reminded me of the fantasy scenes in the movie🎥. The hot spring water gushing out of the valley is constantly steaming and shining with blue light💧, as if you are in a mysterious world✨.
This trip to Beitou not only allowed me to appreciate the beautiful hot spring culture♨️, but also felt the wonder and power of nature💪. I look forward to coming back next time to explore this charming land in depth! 🌸🌄✨
(Xingyi Road Hot Spring Area) has a new look. After bathing in the hot spring, take a walk and enjoy the surrounding greenery.
The water bank of the Suang River on Xingyi Road in Bei City has been re-planned. Natural stones of different sizes have been used to pave the river bank trails, high and low bank squares, and two new landscape bridges have been installed. Stepping onto the bridge, you can walk to the world-famous Green Sulfur Spring Hot Spring Club on the left bank. After soaking in the warm springs, you can take a walk around, appreciate the surrounding greenery, and enjoy a short trip to cleanse your body and soul.

📌 Favorite moments
1. Beitou Hot Spring Museum
The museum is free of charge, and you can easily learn about the history of Beitou Hot Springs inside. They also have a spot inside where you can sit and chill with fans.
2. Thermal Valley Store
Right before you enter Thermal Valley, there's a small store to explore. The store is full of little trinkets that you can purchase. I personally was a big fan of the special soap with various kind of benefits they have tailored to the place.
⭐️ Extra Moments
Though it is totally up to personal preference, there're lots of hot spring places (both public and private) around that you can book to enjoy the hot spring.
