What can I say about Berlin? Regularly, I’m asked what is the best place that I’ve visited? It’s a tough question. There’s so many beautiful and awesome places that I’ve been to, that it’s so hard to choose just one. But as a city destination, Berlin would be right up there near the top of the list. Why? It is a unique place that pretty much has everything. The history, the architecture, the culture and a pretty awesome lifestyle. It’s a city that doesn’t sleep, but in a cool way. There’s always something new to discover in every nook and cranny within the city. Berlin has certainly had its lows as well as its highs. The city had to endure the end of World War 2, and the destruction that followed. Afterwards, the city was cruelly split into two, where West Berlin could thrive and East Berlin was left under the influence of the Soviet Union. In 1989, that all changed. A year later, in 1990, the city and country were officially reunified once again. Everything that Berlin has been through has made it the city that it is today. Make sure you visit the museum quarter whilst in Berlin, and head to the Pergamum Museum to see the Ishtar Gate. For food, currywurst is a must. But you’ve also got to try Burgermeister. A burger chain that has converted some quirky places into Burger joints. #celebrateit All needed to be said is here you can rest assured of a cup of good coffee, like a seriously phenomenal well-executed + unique coffee. I had a Burundi flat white first, it was enough promising (fruity, rounded, sweet, smooth foam) that I decided to go along with a pastry (which I usually find expensive). And it didn’t disappoint: almond flakes, peanut butter (I believe) and almond crème together with the well-layered flaky dough can’t go wrong together. Then I asked if they had other choices of bean for flat white, and learnt they indeed had. The 2nd cup that featured Brazil natural anaerobic was even more impressive in a way that it’s nothing like the other Brazil I’ve tried. It’s darn winey, on top of other good hints of flavor. After some chats, apparently the baristas have a lot of their own thoughts on it, and would do all they can to present what they would like to show people of coffee. It was a weekend trip to Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪 Berlin is a city brimming with history, culture, and modern design, making it a fantastic destination for a weekend trip, especially if you’re looking to capture stunning photos 📸 We began our Berlin adventure at the Brandenburg Gate, one of the most iconic landmarks in Germany. The symmetry of the gate, coupled with its historical significance, made it an incredible spot for photos.m 📸 Early morning was the best time to visit, it was quieter, and the light ✨ was perfect for capturing the grandeur of the gate without the crowds. We also took a few shots with the Pariser Platz square as the backdrop 😍 After exploring the gate, we strolled along Unter den Linden, a grand avenue lined with trees 🌳 and historic buildings. The architecture and the trees on either side made for some fantastic shots, especially in the soft morning light ✨ 📍Brandenburg Gate – Pariser Platz, 10117 Berlin, Germany In the afternoon, we visited the Reichstag Building, home to the Bundestag (German parliament). The combination of neoclassical architecture and the modern glass dome created an interesting contrast, perfect for photos 📸 We took a walk around the building, and the panoramic views from the dome, overlooking the city, were breathtaking. We would recommend booking tickets in advance for the dome, as the views from the top are worth it 🙌 We also headed to the Berlin Wall Memorial. This is a significant historical site, and it offers a powerful, emotional experience. The preserved section of the wall, along with the exhibition, provided great photo opportunities 📸 especially as the light shifted in the afternoon ✨ 📍Reichstag Building – Platz der Republik 1, 11011 Berlin, Germany The next morning, we visited the East Side Gallery, a 1.3 km stretch of the Berlin Wall covered in murals and artwork 🖼️ This open-air gallery is vibrant and offers a mix of historic and contemporary art 🙌 It’s perfect for photography, especially with the colorful murals against the backdrop of the East Berlin skyline. If you like visiting museums, you must visit Museum Island when you come to Berlin. Museum Island consists of 5 museums, the most famous of which is the Pergamon Museum. Unfortunately, the entire museum is currently closed for comprehensive maintenance from 2023 and will not fully reopen until 2037. But don't worry, the museum is expected to gradually open some exhibition areas in 2025🖼 I was lucky enough to visit the museum before it closed, and saw in person the Babylonian wall - Ishtar Gate, the magnificent ancient Greek architecture - Miletus Market Gate, the amazing Islamic stone carvings - Musatta Walls and other precious collections. There are so much to do, and one of Berlin strength is the museums. Highly recommend to get a museum island pass if you’re a fan for museums. I personally got a 72hr WelcomeCard (Museum Islands) which includes 72hr access to Berlin local transportation and four of the best museums: Neues Museum, Altes National Gallery, Bode Museum & Pergamon Museum (the main building is under renovation till quite some time later, but the Panorama will remain open).

In particular, Berliner Dom is a must-see. If you go up to the top, you can see the whole of Berlin at a glance. (Reserve tickets in advance.) It's best to go during sunset. Berlin was a warmer city than I thought. I remember the leisurely days spent in the Rust Garden and Innenstadt Park in front of the Dom. My 4 day trip to Berlin Getting There - From the airport to the city center was very easy to get the train. Google maps helps to get the right train and platform and before arriving to Berlin I downloaded their local train app BVG where you could purchase the train ticket. I got the ABC single ticket, this only works for an hour. Hotels - H4 hotel was very central and ideal to travel around Berlin. The room was a good size and the bathroom had a lot of amenities. The staff were very friendly and spoke a range of languages - Spanish, English, Dutch, German. Tours - I went on 3 tours with Get your Guide, these tours there was a lot of walking. Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp - this was an amazing experience, the guide was very informative and friendly about the history of the camp. price: £20.83 Extra: you need to buy your train ticket to get there. Berlin walking tour: this was an ideal tour, as you visit all the top tourist attractions and get a lot of tips and facts about each location. price: £16.63 Boat tour: it was a lovely way to spend time before my flight and learn more historical facts about Berlin. The tour was bilingual, the guide spoke in both English and German. On the boat tour you could buy drinks or snacks. price: £15.84 other: getting around Berlin was enjoyable, I traveled in all the transport as you can see a lot more of the city. Our recent 4-day trip to Berlin was an amazing blend of history, culture, and culinary discoveries. Starting at Brandenburg Gate, we were captivated by its iconic beauty—especially stunning when illuminated at night. Checkpoint Charlie offered a sombre look into Berlin’s divided past, making it a surreal experience to stand where history unfolded. Museum Island was a cultural gem, with each museum housing unique artefacts. The Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) was especially memorable, with breathtaking architecture and spectacular views over the city from its dome. Exploring Kurfürstendamm (Ku’damm) showed us Berlin’s modern, vibrant side, filled with lively cafes, shops, and a bustling atmosphere. East Side Gallery was a highlight, with each mural along the former Berlin Wall telling a moving story—a true tribute to freedom and artistic expression. We also had some excellent dining experiences. For breakfast, Croissants and More offered delicious, affordable options, while Café Minouche served up a delightful breakfast, perfect for starting our day. For dinner, Indian Village had some of the best Indian food we've had, with rich, authentic flavours, while Baba Pirzola was another fantastic find, offering a great meal and friendly atmosphere. #kidsfriendly Our visit to the Berlin Zoo with the kids was an absolute delight! Located in the heart of the city, the entrance fee was around €17 for adults and €9 for kids, which felt like a good deal for the experience we got. From the moment we walked through the beautiful historic gates, we knew it was going to be a special day. The kids were thrilled to see so many animals up close. The highlights were definitely the panda exhibit and the lion enclosure. The zoo is massive, so we took our time exploring, stopping for a picnic at one of the green spaces inside. The layout is easy to navigate with strollers, and there’s a fantastic playground where the kids burned off some energy. After the zoo, we explored nearby Tiergarten Park, which was a perfect way to wind down the day. We recently visited Berlin, Germany. If you’re an animal lover and photography enthusiast, I highly recommend exploring the city’s two incredible zoos. Our first stop was the Berlin Zoological Garden, located near the famous Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. This zoo is home to over 20,000 animals from around the globe, and its central location makes it a perfect starting point for an animal-centric day. We found the best time to visit was in the early morning when the animals are more active, and the light is perfect for capturing stunning photographs 📸 of creatures like giant pandas 🐼 polar bears🐻❄️ and rare birds 🦅 The zoo’s lush greenery and iconic enclosures also make it a photographer’s paradise. #fallcolors Autumn in Berlin was simply stunning! The city’s iconic streets were lined with golden trees, and the cool, crisp air made exploring so refreshing. I started at the Brandenburg Gate, which is free to visit and surrounded by colorful foliage this time of year. Walking down Unter den Linden, with the leaves falling around me, felt almost magical. I also visited the Reichstag building, which has free entry to the dome if you book in advance. The view from the top was breathtaking, especially with the city dressed in autumn colors. Later, I strolled through Tiergarten, where the paths are beautifully blanketed with fallen leaves.
