It's incredibly enjoyable. Lao Hu is the third-generation successor of the Hu family business. The restaurant was founded in the Qing Dynasty and has served Empress Dowager Cixi, Emperor Guangxu, and Premier Zhou Enlai. The fact that this old establishment has survived to this day speaks to its principles: "Genuine goods at fair prices, benevolence, and integrity." Its very existence is a living history of Shanxi merchants. You could order everything on the menu at Hu Ji Restaurant and it wouldn't cost you more than CNY 300. Moreover, Lao Hu will advise you on what to order based on the number of people in your party, so you don't waste food by ordering too much!
