The whole town stands on rocks and is connected to the outside world only by a narrow pedestrian bridge. On foggy days, the town seems to be suspended in the clouds. The nearest small town is Orvieto, so our plan is to take a train from Rome to Orvieto, and then take a bus to Bagnoregio. The bus fare is 1.3 euros. But the day we left was Boxing Day, and it seemed that the bus driver was also on vacation, because we waited for a long time at the station but no bus came. There is a taxi station on the left side of the train station, but there is no taxi there. There is a small wooden house next to it. The taxi service phone number is written on the roof. I called it several times but it sounded like I had dialed the wrong number. Then a private car came and a female driver got off. She saw that we were not locals and learned about the situation. She said there was no bus today, but we could take her car to Civita di Bagnoregio. It would take 20 minutes to take us directly to the entrance connecting Civita di Bagnoregio and the land. If we take the shuttle bus, it would take 50 minutes one way, and we would need to walk another 20-25 minutes after getting off the bus.
