Nosy Be - hidden gem of Madagascar
The island of Nosy Be is a jewel off the north-west coast of Madagascar. Geographically speaking, Nosy Be is the largest island in the Mitsio archipelago and forms part of the Diana region. It is surrounded by the Indian Ocean, with crystal-clear waters lining its shores and colourful coral reefs to explore.
The mont Passot, located in the centre of the island, is the highest point of Nosy Be and offers spectacular panoramic views of the whole island and surrounding islands.
The best time to travel to Nosy Be depends on individual preferences and planned activities. However, in general, the period from April to November is considered the best time to visit the island. During these months, Nosy Be enjoys a dry and sunny climate, with pleasant temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C. Rainfall is generally low, making conditions ideal for relaxing on the beaches, exploring nature and enjoying maritime activities.
explore the important sites such as:
• Mount Passot;
• the Lokobe Nature Reserve;
• the picturesque beaches of Ambatoloaka and Madirokely.
• Lemuria Park

We are in island Nosy Be in Madagascar today
The origin of the name Nosy Be “The perfumes island” is due to the scents of ylang ylang, spices and sugar cane that increases the island’s freshness.
After visiting Lemuria (natural animal park), you will stop at the one of the biggest perfume factory. They produce Ylang-Ylang, coconut, frangipani oils and work with world famous perfume brands.

Lemuria Land
Brilliant park, immaculate conditions.
At the entrance you pay 45.000 in local money (or 13€), we’ve been told all that money going to buy food for animals, and also guide including.
Our guide nice woman Victoria was able to help us spot the Lemurs easily and interact with them. It’s a truly great experience. Our guide spotted Chameleons, snakes, and the rest.
The animals are in their environment and not in captivity. They are naturally kept in the park otherwise they would be in danger elsewhere.
We can approach them without necessarily overdoing it.
we loved our time in Nosy Be and were treated very well with warm Malagasy hospitality.

Madagascar: "The most beautiful country with the fewest tourists" - Vanilla Four Islands Cruise ⑬
Madagascar is relatively unfamiliar to Chinese people. Even students who listen carefully in geography class may only remember the title of "the fourth largest island in the world." However, the animated blockbuster series "Madagascar" produced by DreamWorks, founded by Steven Spielberg, used the country's name as the title of the film, which made it famous. The large number of cute little elves that appear in the film are lemurs, a unique species formed after Madagascar split from the African continent and was isolated from the world.
"The most beautiful countries with the fewest tourists" is an alternative list, and Madagascar is unfortunately included in it. The reason why tourists are deterred is probably because Madagascar is also on the list of "least developed countries in Africa".
But we still have to go! This poor but beautiful big island was fortunately included in the itinerary during our cruise to the Paradise Beach Mini Country.
Although Nosy Be, the northernmost island of Madagascar, cannot even accommodate a medium-sized cruise ship of 80,000 tons, we still have to take a lifeboat to get there.
We set foot on this island where 90% of the flora and fauna are unique. On Nosy Be Island, we smelled the fragrance of ylang-ylang flowers all over the island; we also saw the deep rosemary eyes of African girls and the carefree smiles on the faces of children; in the Rockbe Nature Reserve, we encountered wild animals ranked first on the world's endangered species list - lemurs with beautiful big eyes, including crested lemurs, red-bellied lemurs, and the ring-tailed lemur with 12 black and white rings on its tail. It is the "King Julien" in the movie "Madagascar".

The Sea of Nosy Be
I went to Nosy Be in the north of Madagascar.
From Antananarivo, it's a 40-hour bus ride over rough roads (not recommended as it's harsh), followed by a 2-hour flight. It's peaceful and many French people come here for retirement or vacation.
The sunsets are beautiful here too.
There are plenty of activities to choose from, such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and island hopping.
Depending on the season, you can go whale watching and swim with whale sharks.
I recommend just relaxing.
