Ningbo Haishu Travelogue: A Journey Between Water Towns and the City
Today, let’s explore the stunning hidden gems of Ningbo Haishu! This place blends the gentle charm of Jiangnan water towns with the vibrant energy of a port city. Whether it's historical relics, picturesque lakes and mountains, or culinary delights, you’re in for an extraordinary travel experience!
Starting early from downtown Ningbo, we drove to the Wulongtan Scenic Area in Haishu. Along the way, the cool mountain air soothed our restless hearts, while the chorus of cicadas seemed to cheer us on! At a bend in the mountain path, the sound of flowing water greeted us. Sitting on a swing chair by the stream, with a gentle breeze caressing our faces and watching children play in the water, the feeling was pure bliss!
On a scorching summer day, watermelon and cola in the water are the ultimate combo! 🍉🥤 Rolling up our pants and stepping into the stream, the icy mountain spring instantly refreshed us—simply exhilarating! Each of Wulongtan’s pools has its own charm, and when the water is abundant in summer, the sight is absolutely breathtaking!
Continuing deeper into the mountains, we reached the Banshan Banshui Resort in just over ten minutes. This isn’t your ordinary scenic spot—it’s a natural playground! Adventure towers, crystal towers, apple wood bridges... you name it! Bring your kids here, and they’ll never want to leave!
For accommodation, the cave houses are perfect for families, but be sure to book in advance. The Honeycomb Hotel’s design is incredibly unique, with a clean and stylish interior! Hidden at the foot of the mountain, the Channa Art Homestay is truly an escape from the world! 🌿 The wooden cabins are understated yet cozy, with old tiles on the roof and wild herbs and flowers at the doorstep, making you feel like you’ve stepped into a paradise. Open the window to a sea of green, and draw the curtains to a soft, filtered light—absolutely stunning!
Wake up early and head to Hengjie for a village café, where the healing and relaxing vibe is downright addictive! Standing on the bamboo sea viewing platform, watching the waves of bamboo sway, your spirits will soar! 🍃 Don’t miss the thrilling Hujiaoya Hengjie Rafting—screams and cooling off guaranteed, the ultimate summer savior!
Deep in the Siming Mountains, Lijiakeng Village is another hidden treasure! With its blue bricks and black tiles, and a stream winding through the village, it feels like stepping into an ancient landscape painting. Staying overnight at the Zhangxigu Homestay, sipping tea on the small wooden balcony while gazing at the valley, is truly one of life’s greatest pleasures! The village’s Daxikeng is a water play paradise, with tiny fish and shrimp darting between the rocks, tempting you to jump in and catch a few!
Finally, we arrived at the old town of Ningbo Haishu. The Drum Tower, as a landmark, carries so much historical memory. Then there’s Xiaowen Street, featured in the hit drama "The Lane Families," and Dongfuyuan Restaurant’s marinated crab roe, fresh seafood, and Ningbo tangyuan—each dish is a nostalgic trip to childhood 😋!
Ningbo Haishu is truly a treasure trove. Take advantage of the summer break, gather your friends and family, and start planning your trip now! 🤗
