You can walk anywhere, and the subway station is right in front of the hotel entrance, so it's easy to get to anywhere in downtown Hamburg. It's a 3-minute walk to Hamburg Central Station, a 30-second walk to DM, and a 10-minute walk to Hamburg City Hall, so it's really close. I was assigned an odd-numbered room on the 5th floor, and it was really nice because I could see the Hamburg train station and the blue sky of Germany when I opened the window. And there was a Nespresso machine and various coffee capsules in the room, so I could save money on coffee. The bedding was soft and the room was warm, which was nice. The bathroom amenities were also nice, as expected from Novotel, with just what you need. The staff were also very friendly and nice. It was built between 1886 and 1897, this Neo-Renaissance building serves as the seat of the government of Hamburg. It stands on over 4,000 oak piles. We also strolled around St. Michael's Church (Michel). A symbol of Hamburg, this Baroque church was originally built in the 17th century. It has been rebuilt several times due to fires and wars. But there's so much attractions that a day isn't enough to visit the attractions in the town center. Getting There - metro trains from the airport run until late in the evening, and cost around EUR 1.90. If you arrive late, give yourself at least a 30 min buffer time to pick up your luggage and then swoosh towards the metro line (which takes you around 30 min to downtown) Attractions - the Hamburg Rathaus (Town Hall) is definitely a must. For kids, bring them to Miniatur Wunderland. Hotels - I booked a solo room at a&o Hostel Hamburg Hauptbanhog downtown that's 10 min by walk from the train/bus station. The mashed potatoes are very dense and delicious 😋😋😋 #FoodTravel There is another burger specialty --- Labskaus As a hamburger person, Jam highly recommends it 😀 This dish is a bit scary 😭😭😭, so I didn’t order it. But my husband, who is German, doesn’t like it either. There is raw beef and a raw egg in the middle. You have to be very brave to try this 😆😉 There are many restaurants around the Hamburg Harbor. If you want to eat Hamburg specialties, you can try Pannfisch or other seafood which are also delicious.
