We had the simplest and most enjoyable trip planning thanks to Marlon! We stayed at his hotel in Nazca, where his lovely mother generously hosted us. She prepared breakfast for us and even helped us use her kitchen—a true highlight of our entire trip. It felt like an authentic home stay experience. Marlon effortlessly arranged day trips and an overnight visit to Colca Canyon (from Arequipa). He continuously checked in with us throughout the journey, even wishing us safe travels home. For an authentic travel experience, this is the perfect starting point. They truly make everything happen! Enjoy Peru—it’s absolutely amazing.

Arequipa, Peru 🇵🇪🏔️

Arequipa, known as the “White City” (Ciudad Blanca), is one of Peru’s most beautiful destinations. Located at around 2,335 meters above sea level, the city is surrounded by dramatic volcanic landscapes, with the enormous Misti Volcano rising above the skyline.

🤍 Why is Arequipa called the White City?

Much of historic Arequipa was built using sillar, a pale volcanic stone formed from ancient volcanic activity. The stone gives the historic center its distinctive white and cream-colored appearance.

The city’s colonial architecture, ornate facades, arches and quiet courtyards make wandering through the old center particularly beautiful.

📍 Places you shouldn’t miss

🏛️ Plaza de Armas
The heart of the historic city, surrounded by elegant colonial buildings and the impressive Arequipa Cathedral.

⛪ Monastery of Santa Catalina
Perhaps Arequipa’s most famous attraction. This enormous 16th-century complex feels like a colorful city within the city, with narrow streets, courtyards and vividly painted walls.

🌋 Misti Volcano
The iconic cone-shaped volcano overlooking Arequipa. Its snowy or cloud-covered summit creates spectacular views from around the city.

🏔️ Colca Canyon
One of the region’s biggest attractions and among the world’s deepest canyons. It’s famous for dramatic viewpoints and sightings of Andean condors soaring above the canyon.

🦅 Cruz del Condor
A popular viewpoint in Colca Canyon where visitors can often watch condors flying through the immense valley.

🍲 Food

Arequipa is famous for its picanterías, traditional restaurants serving regional Peruvian dishes.

Try:

· 🌶️ Rocoto relleno
· 🥔 Chupe de camarones
· 🥘 Adobo arequipeño
· 🥔 Ocopa
· 🍲 Chairo

🌄 The atmosphere

Arequipa has a wonderful combination of colonial architecture, volcanic mountains, high-altitude landscapes and traditional Peruvian culture. The surrounding countryside becomes especially spectacular as you travel toward the Andes.

Arequipa is a city carved from volcanic stone, watched over by a volcano, and surrounded by some of Peru’s most extraordinary mountain landscapes. 🇵🇪✨
