Ravana Falls: How to see one of Ella's main attractions from different angles

Ravana Falls is formed by the Kirinda Oya River and is considered one of the widest on the island. Interestingly, the color of the water and rocks here constantly changes. In the morning, the rocks appear almost black, and at sunset, they are copper-colored. But the 25-meter cascade of this waterfall is more than just a beautiful natural phenomenon; it is a place where Sri Lankan epic poetry comes to life. According to the Ramayana (an ancient epic inextricably linked with the island's history), it was here, in a secret cave, that King Ravana hid the beautiful Sita, the wife of Prince Rama. In Sri Lankan culture, Ravana is revered as a great scholar, a medical expert, a talented musician, and a wise ruler. His image on the island is a symbol of wisdom and power, which is why many attractions are associated with his name. From the base: The waterfall is located just 6 km from Ella, right next to the highway (photos 1, 2, and 3), but is often crowded with tourists during the day. 2. From a bird's eye view: Ravana Falls is clearly visible from the summit of Little Adam's Peak, a place with incredibly beautiful mountain panoramas. Photos 4 and 5 (in the center, in the distance) show the view of the waterfall from this summit. The trail to Little Adam's Peak begins in the eastern part of Ella. The trail passes by the Flying Ravana Adventure Park (photo 7). Ravana Cave. The trail to the cave begins approximately 2 km from the waterfall toward Ella; the landmark is the temple. From here, about 700 steps lead to the legendary grotto. The waterfall is not visible from the cave entrance, but a stunning panorama of Ella's mountain gorge opens up.
