The charm of Bangkok: see Wat Arun on the banks of the Chao Phraya River

Another highlight that you can't miss when visiting temples in Bangkok is Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan, or as locals know it, Wat Chaeng. It is located on Arun Amarin Road, facing the Chao Phraya River. The most outstanding architecture is the Prang of Wat Arun, a large white prang surrounded by smaller prangs. When viewed from the Chao Phraya River opposite, it is very beautiful. The prang is made of bricks and mortar and decorated with tiles and Benjarong bowls from China, showing the wealth and prosperity of trade at that time. Currently, only one floor of the prang is open for visitors, perhaps due to safety issues, as the stairs are quite steep and high. If you look closely, the characters carrying the prang on each floor are different. The lowest floor is a giant, followed by a monkey and an angel. As you go higher, you will see Indra riding on his Erawan elephant, with a crown on top of the nine-leaf crest. Walking out of the prang to the riverside, you will see a lawn where you can sit and enjoy the cool breeze, and two giants of Wat Chaeng standing facing the Chao Phraya River.
