Wat Yai Si Suphan: A Historic Temple from the Late Ayutthaya Period

🏘 Wat Yai Si Suphan was built around 1747 during the late Ayutthaya period. Locals call it "Wat Yai" (Big Temple) because the person who built it, Chao Khrua Thong, was the elder sibling. Meanwhile, the younger sibling, Chao Khrua Ngern, built "Wat Noi" or Wat Hirun Ruchi Worawihan. The name "Suphan" translates to "gold," which refers to the name of the temple's founder. 🧱 The temple underwent restoration in 1955. Key highlights and attractions within the temple include: 🏠 The ordination hall (Ubosot) features traditional Thai architecture. Originally, it did not have decorative gable apexes (Chofa), but they were added during renovations. The pediment is adorned with floral patterns.
