Wat Pho, also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is located next to the Grand Palace in Bangkok and is one of Thailand's oldest and most historically significant temples. Originally named Wat Photharam, it was established by King Rama I in 1656, during the construction of the Grand Palace. In 1788, it was officially renamed Wat Pho, while the name "Temple of the Reclining Buddha" comes from the massive reclining Buddha statue housed within. In addition to being a royal temple, Wat Pho is also the birthplace of traditional Thai medicine and Thai massage, playing a vital role in Thai culture and lifestyle. It is a must-visit destination for tourists. Highlights of Wat Pho: The Reclining Buddha statue inside the temple is 46 meters long, with feet measuring 5 meters in length and 3 meters in height. The distance between its base and headpiece is 15 meters. The statue is dazzlingly golden, made of bricks and plaster, and finished with lacquer and gold leaf. The soles of the Reclining Buddha feature mother-of-pearl inlays depicting 108 Buddhist symbols, representing the wisdom and perfection of Buddha.
