Wat Kalayanamit Woramahawihan was built during the reign of King Rama III. It is the home of Phra Phuttha Trairattanayok or Luang Pho To. This temple has a long history since the reign of King Rama III. It is a second-class royal temple of the Woramahawihan type. Originally, Chao Phraya Nikorn Bodin (To Kalyanamitra) donated his house and bought additional adjacent land to build a temple in 1825. He then presented it to King Nangklao, Rama III, who named it Wat Kalayanamit. Later, he built and bestowed both the royal chapel and the principal Buddha image for the royal chapel, which is Luang Pho To or Phra Phuttha Trairattanayok. He intended for it to be a large Buddha image on the riverbank, similar to the one at Wat Phanan Choeng in Ayutthaya. Luang Pho To is highly revered, especially among the Chinese. And they called him Sampohutkong or Sampokong. He is a stucco Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, 5 wa 3 sok span wide on the lap and 7 wa 2 sok span wide and 10 inches high. It is located in the large chapel in the middle of the temple, in the middle of the small chapel and the ubosot in front of the royal chapel. Is a newly built bell tower and stores the biggest giant bell in Thailand. Inside the ubosot, which is smaller than the chapel, is the Buddha image in the Palilai posture (Pa Lai Lai) which was built and bestowed by King Rama III. It is also considered the only temple in Thailand with a principal Buddha image in the Palilai posture. Inside are murals showing the life of the Buddha and the way of life of the villagers during the reign of King Rama III. There is also a Phra Thammathien Theling Phrakiat Hall which stores the Tripitaka from the reign of King Rama IV.
