As we walked from Buda Castle towards the Fisherman's Bastion, the stunning Matthias Church came into view. Its colorful roof is particularly striking, making it both beautiful and charming. Wow, it's mesmerizing. We purchased tickets at the booth across the street and entered the church. Inside, the grandeur was overwhelming. The stained glass windows were exquisite—so different from the churches we usually see, with an exotic atmosphere. This is likely because during the Ottoman Turkish occupation, the church was used as a mosque, and Islamic patterns were incorporated into the columns and walls. Additionally, the church has been the site of coronation ceremonies for many royal figures, including the famous coronation of Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) and Emperor Franz Joseph. On the second floor, there is a treasure hall and a bust of Empress Elisabeth. Sisi is absolutely stunning! You can admire the murals and the bust of Sisi up close, so the second floor is highly recommended☆ Next to Matthias Church stands the Holy Trinity Statue, built to commemorate the end of the plague. Similar Holy Trinity statues can be found across Europe, but this one is pure white and exceptionally beautiful. Finally, we arrived at the Fisherman's Bastion.
