A Chaotic Senior Trip: Hungary, Budapest, Part 4

【Fisherman's Bastion】 Known as one of the most beautiful fortresses in the world, this Romanesque-style lookout offers a panoramic view of the city and the Danube River. Despite its name, the bastion was not used for battles. Instead, it derives its name from the medieval fishermen who guarded the city walls and the fish market that used to be in the area. Indeed, it was pristine and stunning. Everything in this square is breathtakingly beautiful! After enjoying the "Pearl of the Danube," we descended via the same cable car and visited the somber historical site of the 【Shoes on the Danube Bank】. This memorial was created to honor the victims of the Holocaust during World War II, where many Jews were shot after being forced to remove their shoes—considered valuable at the time—and their bodies fell into the Danube River. It was heartbreaking to think that such a tragic event occurred in such a beautiful place. All I could do was silently offer my prayers. With a heavy heart, we headed to the nearby Parliament Building. It is currently the third-largest parliament building in the world. Oh, it was overwhelmingly beautiful. There’s also a garden outside. I became even more excited to see the Parliament Building illuminated at night!
