According to legend, a sacred relic of the Buddha was placed on the back of a white elephant, which climbed the mountain, circled the summit, and then died—signaling the divine location for the temple to be built. The centerpiece of the temple is its golden chedi (stupa), which shines brilliantly in the sun and houses the Buddha relic. The temple complex also features ornate shrines, bells, statues, and detailed murals that reflect traditional Lanna architecture and Buddhist symbolism. To reach the temple, visitors can climb a 306-step Naga staircase or take a convenient cable car. Once at the top, they are rewarded with serene surroundings, mountain air, and stunning panoramas.
