🏯 Wat Rong Khun

Wat Rong Khun was originally a small dilapidated temple. It was renovated by Ajarn Chalerm Chaikositpipat, a Chiang Rai painter, until it became a beautiful religious site with outstanding architecture and exquisite artwork, blending Lanna culture harmoniously. Wat Rong Khun has a unique identity with white color decorated with shiny silver mirrors, intricate stucco patterns, and exquisite mural paintings. The interior of the temple is designed and decorated with meaning. White color represents the purity of the Buddha, the mirror represents the wisdom of the Buddha. The chapel, built on a low hill, represents crossing the cycle of rebirth to reach Buddhahood. The upper part of the roof represents important principles of Dhamma: morality, concentration, and wisdom.
