Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is a stunning Gothic structure towering over Cologne in western Germany. It's a highly recognizable World Heritage Site. 🫣✨ First of all, you'll be struck by its sheer scale! At 157 meters tall, it was the tallest building in the world when it was completed in the 19th century. 🧐 Visible from everywhere, this cathedral is truly a symbol of Cologne! Construction began in 1248 and took over 600 years to complete! As a result, the exterior boasts beautiful, intricate carvings and spires typical of Gothic architecture, and you can feel the history just by looking at it. 🥹 Once inside, the incredibly high ceilings and grandeur will leave you speechless.
