Three Gorges of the Yangtze River - Fengjie

Transportation: Wushan → Fengjie → Wushan, high-speed train 🚄 one way 20 minutes First stop: Summit of the Three Gorges Take the direct shuttle bus from Fengjie Station. If you don’t plan to hike, go straight to Blue Moon River. The bus departs continuously, every half hour, 30 yuan, 1.5 hours. It passes Baidi City, Mankou (get off here for hiking), and Shimiao (get off here for cable car up the mountain). Get off at Blue Moon River, buy tickets and round-trip sightseeing bus tickets, total 50 yuan. The sightseeing bus goes to Chijia Square, then to the Summit of the Three Gorges viewing platform, with a short climb. The red leaves on the mountain are halfway turned, mixed with red, yellow, and green. Not many people are climbing, but the viewing platform is crowded with people taking photos. From the top, looking down, the mountains and river are vast and wide, a completely different scene from viewing from the river. Unfortunately, although it was a sunny day, the fog was heavy, making the view look like it was behind a thin veil. The fog should clear later in the afternoon, which would be better. Returning from the Summit of the Three Gorges to Chijia Square at 12:30, the original plan was to take the 1:20 PM small red boat from Fengjie back to Wushan, but it was too late. Wanting to tour Qutang Gorge, the plan was changed to take the in-depth tour at Baidi City. Second stop: Baidi City + Qutang Gorge in-depth tour Take the direct shuttle bus from Blue Moon River to Baidi City, 15 yuan, 40 minutes. Arrived at Baidi City near 2 PM, Baidi City ticket is 60 yuan. With an hour and a half before the last in-depth tour, just strolled around Baidi City. Baidi City is on a small hill on an island, with winding stone steps, a bit tiring for the legs. Baidi City is not large and mostly newly built, just a brief visit. Descend to Zhongyi Wharf and board the in-depth tour boat, which requires an additional 50 yuan ticket. The boat is large, with three levels; the third level is an open deck with good views and commentary, but costs an extra 30 yuan, which felt a bit pushy. The first level is at the bow, the second level at the stern, also with open areas, but the railings were crowded with tourists taking photos. The loudspeaker on board kept promoting the third deck, snacks, popcorn, photo services, etc., which was very noisy and unpleasant. Possibly because it was the last trip, the boat only circled Qutang Gorge and then docked at Chijia Tower, with only about 40 minutes of effective viewing time. The scenery of Qutang Gorge is magnificent, but the boat experience and value for money are far inferior to the small red boat. Disembarking at Chijia Tower, rushed to the fort to see monkeys. Staff kept urging tourists to buy snacks to feed the monkeys. After a quick look at the monkeys, rushed to catch the 5 PM ferry back to Zhongyi Wharf. The free ferry had long queues, many tour groups, very crowded and noisy. After leaving Baidi City, took a carpool for 20 yuan per person, rushing back to Fengjie Station to return to Wushan. Today's itinerary was not ideal. If planning again, it should be like this: - Take the 8 AM small red boat from Wushan to Fengjie, a 4-hour trip that passes through Qutang Gorge, fully covering the in-depth tour. - From the small red boat dock, go to the Summit of the Three Gorges. The direct shuttle bus from Fengjie Station to the Summit of the Three Gorges will pick up passengers at the small red boat dock. The fog at the Summit of the Three Gorges will clear more in the afternoon, making it more beautiful. - Take the direct shuttle bus from Blue Moon River straight back to Fengjie Station to return to Wushan.
