#July Travel Support Fund Everything in Florence was warm as soon as I arrived. The weather, the people, and even the colors of the city. The breath of the Renaissance quietly flowed in the alleys under the red roofs, and wherever I went, it felt like art was my daily life. The Duomo Cathedral was truly majestic. It was visible from afar, and when I got closer, there was another feeling. The elaborate marble exterior, Brunelleschi's dome rising above, everything was perfect. I was out of breath climbing the stairs, but the view of Florence from the top made me forget all the hardships. At the Uffizi Gallery, the moment I came face to face with Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus', the painting actually seemed to breathe. The time I spent slowly looking at the painting in the quiet exhibition hall was the most tranquil and profound moment of my trip. Jewelry shops sparkled on the Ponte Vecchio, and the sunset stretched out over the Arno River flowing under the bridge. The time I spent sitting on the riverbank quietly looking at the scenery was a moment that was filled with silence. Florence was a city with more ‘places to stay’ than ‘things to do’. It was a city where you didn’t have to do anything, where just being there was enough.
