Gangneung Day 1: My Jeongdongjin One-Day Trip Guide 🌅🚂

#summervacay If you're in Gangneung and looking for a unique coastal excursion, I'd tell you right away that a trip to Jeongdongjin is definitely a great choice! Getting There: Gangneung ➡️ Jeongdongjin From Gangneung to Jeongdongjin, the most convenient way I found was by KTX. Ticket Tip: Even though I couldn't buy tickets for this specific route in advance via the KTX app or platforms like Trip.com, I just went directly to Gangneung Station and bought them very easily. Plus, there were usually plenty of empty seats on the train, so I didn't have to worry about availability. Morning Departures: The early morning trains I saw leaving were at: 6:27 AM, 7:45 AM, 8:34 AM, 10:14 AM, 11:45 AM, 2:10 PM. Travel Time: It only took me 15 minutes – super fast! Jeongdongjin Station (정동진역) Coastal Station: This little station isn't big, but the moment I stepped out and saw the clear blue sea right in front of me, my mind just opened up. Station Highlights: On the platform, there were a few picturesque pine trees, some statues, and a model rail bike – I instantly knew it was iconic for Jeongdongjin, and it was perfect for some quick photos. Rail Bike (정동진 레일바이크) Ticket Office: The ticket office was conveniently located right next to Jeongdongjin Station. Prices: I saw the two-seater was 25,000 KRW, and a four-seater was 35,000 KRW. Operating Hours: They run hourly from 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM (except for the 11:45 AM slot). My Experience: I hopped on one of the bikes, and we just rode along the fixed track right by the sea. The bikes can't leave the rails, of course, but it was such a fun way to experience the coastal scenery! Time Museum (정동진 시간박물관) Location: From the road signs, it looked like the Time Museum was just over 600 meters from Jeongdongjin Station. Important Note: When I visited, the coastal road was unfortunately closed for construction, which meant I had to take a detour. So, I'd definitely recommend checking the road conditions in advance to avoid any unexpected delays.
