Unlike the splendor of Binnenalster, the Outer Alster (Außenalster) serves as a true haven for relaxation and recreation for Hamburg's residents. Surrounded by lush greenery and upscale residential areas, the expansive lake exudes a serene and peaceful atmosphere. It is particularly ideal for water sports. Numerous rental spots around the lake offer kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats, allowing visitors to experience the city from the water. The approximately 7.4 km trail encircling the Außenalster is considered one of Hamburg's best jogging and walking routes. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete a full loop, making it a perfect way to enjoy fresh air and a leisurely European lifestyle. On sunny days, renting a boat and heading to the center of the lake is highly recommended. The view of Hamburg's skyline from the water offers a picturesque beauty that is distinct from the view on land.
