Tian Tan Buddha

#hongkongtrip For Buddhists and non-Buddhists, a trip to the Big Buddha Statue (Tian Tan Buddha) is a must when you are at Tung Chung. It’s located near Ngong Ping Village up the hills. You can take the land transport (bus or car) or by air (cable car). As the impending typhoon “delayed” its arrival into the island, we were very lucky that it wasn’t a rainy day nor was it too hot. Also it wasn’t very crowded and we had a leisurely climb up to the peak for close up pictures with the Buddha. It is cooler with the breeze coming in from the sea. We also toured the inside of the temple and paid our respect to Anita Mui’s tablet. Po Lam Monastery is nearby and a few steps away once you decent from the climb.
