Man Mo Temple, Hong Kong

#SpiritualTour This is the largest and oldest temple on Hong Kong Island, located in the Sheung Wan district. It's a popular place to pray for success in studies, exams, and promotions. Built in 1847 during the Qing Dynasty by a Chinese merchant, it was designated a historic building in 2009 and has been preserved as a Hong Kong monument. Inside the temple, visitors will find the deity Man Tai Kuan (Man), the god of writing, holding a pen, and the deity Mo Tai Kuan (Mo, the martial arts god Guan Yu). A highlight of the temple are the large incense coils hung from the ceiling. It's said that each incense stick takes approximately three weeks to burn out. The temple's incense smell is quite strong and can be stinging to the eyes. Don't forget to bring a mask when you visit.
