Enjoy Dim Sum with a Sea View

Looking for a quiet place to have tea and chat with friends, I thought of Moon Palace in Sheung Wan. I called ahead to reserve a table near the window. The staff said they would try their best, and in the end, they managed to get us one. Dining with an unbeatable sea view definitely lifted my mood. Personally, I think dim sum isn’t complete without siu mai. A basket of four large, plump pieces, very generous in filling. The taste was good, not too dense, and just two pieces were already quite filling. The salty water dumplings are shaped like pears, with a slightly crispy bite. The filling is well-seasoned, cute and delicious. The red oil wontons are a bit bigger than authentic Sichuan ones, making them more satisfying to eat. With smooth skins and dipped in spicy Sichuan sauce, I ended up finishing three by myself. Just eating dim sum might not be enough, and I didn’t want fried noodles or rice, so I took the staff’s recommendation and ordered the dry pot snakehead fish. The dry pot style was very flavorful and appetizing, with large pieces of fish and a spicy kick—quite a pleasant surprise. For dessert, I chose the brown sugar guokui, which is basically a pan-fried bun filled with brown sugar. It was fragrant, sweet, soft, and quite unique. We chatted from 12:30 until nearly 3 PM without anyone rushing us. The service was quite attentive.
