Victoria Peak (Hike Instead of Tram)

#hkonbudget Everyone knows about Victoria Peak, but not everyone knows you can actually hike up for free instead of paying for the tram. As a traveler on a budget, this was the best choice I made. The trail winds through lush greenery and occasionally opens up to views of the city, giving you a taste of both nature and skyline before you even reach the top. It’s a bit of a climb, so bring water, but the reward is worth it—breathtaking panoramas of Hong Kong without having to spend extra on tickets. The hike itself is peaceful, and I found it much less crowded than the tram ride. For me, it felt more rewarding to earn the view with each step. If you’re looking for adventure + budget + iconic views, this is it.
