Hong Kong Attractions | M+ | Sigg Collection: The Mental Landscape

Thanks to my best friend for the free ticket, I revisited M+ recently to check out the exhibitions, one of which was "M+ Sigg Collection: The Mental Landscape," fully open since August 22. Before exploring the exhibition, I admired the "Rainbow" installation on the second floor. The first section of the exhibition features vibrant and colorful artworks, evoking a sense of joy. However, behind the smiles lies the artists' concern about the prevalence of consumer culture. Initially, I was drawn to the colors of two paintings, but upon closer inspection, I noticed bottles of Coca-Cola. Besides the familiar "Coca-Cola" logo, the bottles also displayed phrases like "No Mouth, No Joy," "Cry Mouth, Cry Joy," and "Bitter Mouth, Bitter Joy." Next, I appreciated the series "Sister" by artist Duan Jianyu, who created a fictional flight attendant as the protagonist of her paintings. She is depicted dragging a long suitcase filled with crops and animals. Another series, "Guide to Plateau Life," shows the flight attendant milking sheep on a plateau. My favorite exhibit was Ni Youyu's "Galaxy." I lingered for a long time, carefully examining the intricate details painted on coins. On coins resembling "two-dollar coins," there were drawings of gardenias. "The Year 2000" seems to be the most popular spot for taking photos. Exploring exhibitions and enjoying Hong Kong.
