It saves money while filling me up. 😋 Recently, I passed by Tsim Sha Tsui and noticed this newly opened Wonton Zai, which officially launched on October 10. The entrance was adorned with congratulatory flower plaques 🌺. The owner aims to carry on his father's business from years ago, which had a loyal following in Kwun Tong. With his creativity and innovation, he hopes to carve out a new niche. ✨ The restaurant's decor is inspired by Hong Kong in the 60s and 70s 🇭🇰, featuring nostalgic designs like neon signs, red plastic stools, wooden round tables, and ceiling pendant lights, exuding a retro charm. 🤩 Wonton Zai specializes in Hong Kong-style noodles, offering options like rice noodles, vermicelli, and thick or thin egg noodles 🍜. The main dishes feature three high-quality ingredients: signature tiger prawn wontons, dried tangerine peel dace fish balls, and fresh castrated beef. All ingredients are freshly prepared in-house daily 👍, and the broth is simmered for 10 hours to ensure the highest quality Hong Kong-style noodles for every customer. You can choose single topping ($38), double toppings ($46), or triple toppings ($54). For the best experience, go for all three! 😋 The castrated beef is tender, with evenly distributed fat and a rich, aromatic flavor. The dace fish balls are large, bouncy, and free of any fishy taste, with hints of dried tangerine peel and scallion. The wontons here are a must-try, made with tiger prawns 🦐, packed with generous amounts of shrimp meat, and incredibly satisfying. 😎 Shrimp lovers can add shrimp roe (+$8), and spice enthusiasts can try the restaurant's homemade chili oil 🌶️, each offering a unique taste. Additionally, I ordered a plate of fresh greens 🥬 ($20) and drinks, including low-sugar soy milk ($9) and sugar-free Coca-Cola ($9). Although Wonton Zai doesn't have an extensive menu, the value for money is truly impressive. 😌
