Walking into the temple feels like traveling back in time, experiencing the weight of history and the solemnity of Buddhist culture. The Thousand Buddha Hall houses 40 colorful Song Dynasty clay Arhat statues, praised by Liang Qichao as “the finest sculptures in the country.” Each statue is vivid and unique, showcasing the superb craftsmanship of ancient artisans. Admission is 40 RMB, open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Wufeng Mountain Wufeng Mountain is named after its five parallel peaks. Free admission, open all day. Food Recommendations Gushan Momo This is a specialty food of Changqing, made with traditional craftsmanship. It has a chewy texture and rich wheat aroma. Zhangxia Jade Apricot Zhangxia Town is known as the “Hometown of China’s Jade Apricot.” The jade apricots here have delicate flesh, juicy and sweet. The apricot season is around June each year, so be sure to try fresh jade apricots. Changqing Vegetable Bun Filled with various vegetables, these buns have thin skin and generous filling, with a fresh taste and rich nutrition. They are a traditional local snack.
