✨The Bridge on the River Kwai was built during World War II as part of the Japanese army's railway route from Nong Pla Duk Junction Station, Ban Pong District, Ratchaburi Province to Thanbyuzayat City, Burma. In some parts of the construction of this railway route, a bridge had to be built over deep and rapid water. ✨The first phase was a temporary wooden bridge, 100 meters away from the current bridge. It took 3 months to build. Later, it was built as a permanent steel bridge by assembling steel from Malay. The tracks were laid by British prisoners of war.
