Kawagoe Half-Day Trip: Battling the Summer Heat! ☀️🚶‍♀️

#summervacay My half-day trip to Kawagoe definitely confirmed that venturing out in scorching summer heat isn't ideal! A Quick Glance and Unexpected Serenity Stepping out of Kawagoe Station, a walk through the commercial street led me to Kawagoe Hachimangu Shrine. Unfortunately, it was undergoing maintenance, so I only managed a quick glimpse before moving on. Next, I headed to Kita-in Temple. This was a pleasant surprise, with very few people and a lovely, peaceful environment. I didn't buy a ticket to see the Five Hundred Rakan statues, opting instead to simply walk around the exterior and soak in the tranquility. Seeking Refuge and Exploring Ichibangai The heat quickly became overwhelming, so I walked towards Kawagoe Ichibangai. I passed Kumano Shrine along the way but didn't go in as it seemed quite small. To escape the sun, I found a spot at Ichibangai for some shaved ice and a sandwich to cool down and recharge. Continuing my exploration of Kawagoe Ichibangai, it was incredibly crowded and still very hot. Despite the heat, the street offered some interesting finds, including fun Miffy and Snoopy stores. Hikawa Shrine: A Moment of Beauty My final stop was Hikawa Shrine. While there weren't many wind chimes, the gentle breeze created a beautiful, serene atmosphere with their soft tinkling sounds – truly picturesque. Final Thoughts on Kawagoe Since most attractions in Kawagoe are relatively close to each other, a city walk would be much more enjoyable in cooler weather.
